When you expect death, you hope and pray that it is quick and painless.

Not for me.

My arm is currently locked in the tight jaws of a sand colored wolf, and circling us was the gray wolf that held hatred against me for what I do not know. Maybe I was just an easy meal to it? Right now, I don't even care anymore.

All I really wanted right now was to die.

Feeling the blood - my blood - pour out from my arm where the sand colored wolf's teeth punctured, his jaw still firmly locked around my arm.

The gray wolf curled it's lip, baring it's sharp canines before lunging at me. I screamed once more as I shut my eyes quickly. Not wanting to face my early death.

But it did not come.

A vicious snarl echoed around us as a brown wolf tackled the gray wolf before it ripped my head off. A whine came from the sand colored wolf as it watched it's friend get attacked, but as soon as it whined a silver wolf came and tackled him.

I clutched my arm tightly as the wolf's teeth ripped at my arm, blood spluttering out and all over in front of me. Coating my shirt and jeans in my own blood. My vision blurring as my heart ached.

"Jaxon." I breathed out before everything went black.

It was beautiful.

I found myself in a green meadow, flowers all around me and the sun shining brightly down upon me.

I smiled as I closed my eyes, falling back into the tall grass that reached up to my knees. I laid in the grass, letting the sun warm my face. Falling into pure bliss as the calmness surrounded me. I could hear a creek nearby.

That wasn't the only sound I heard.

A wolf howling echoed in the trees, but it did not frighten me. Instead, it made me hopeful. Sitting up, my eyes scanning the trees in front of me. Curious to what would pop out.

My heart soared when his lazy smirk appeared as he strolled out of the trees, a hand in his pocket while his brown hair fell into his eyes.

I smiled widely and jumped to my feet, running into his open arms. Burying my face in his chest as I inhaled his woodsy mint scent, loving the way his arms tightened around me. A deep rumble echoing in his chest.

I looked up into his bright blue eyes that flashed yellow then back to his gorgeous blue. His rough fingers tracing along my cheek, leaving behind a tingling trail.

"Mate." His rough voice said softly. "All mine."

I smiled widely, my heart soaring hearing him call me his.

But my happy moment was ruined when a man walked out, chuckling.

His chuckle.

Jaxon tensed as he pushed me behind him, a snarl escaping his lips as he glared at the man walking towards us. His blonde hair and blue eyes trained on Jaxon's every move but would flicker over to me and fill up with hatred.

Jaxon lunged away from me, jumping into the air and landing as his brown wolf. Charging at my killer while he just stood there with a playful glint in his eyes, his hand reaching into his jeans and aiming a gun in Jaxon's direction.

"JAXON!" I screamed, bolting upright in bed.

Breathing erractically, my eyes scanned the room I was in. My room. Everything seemed in place from what I could remember. Except my window being wide open. But, how did I get here?

Last I remember was watching as the wolves were fighting...

I looked down at my arm, seeing that it was wrapped up in a bandage.

"So it did happen..." I mumbled to myself, my heart racing when my bedroom door handle jingled.

"Honey, are you okay? I heard you scream." Grandma walked in.

"Grandma, how did I get here?" I asked her as she sat down on my bed.

"Honey, your friend Ash brought you home. And may I say, what a good looking man." She giggled.

"Grandma!" I groaned, flopping onto my back. "Where is he?"

"Oh, he left as soon as he tucked you in. Saying he had important business to attend to." She said.

I nodded, looking over at my end table and seeing Balto - the brown wolf stuffed animal - facing me. Immediately I pictured Jaxon.

"Was anyone else with him?" I asked, sitting back up.

Grandma furrowed her eyebrows. "No? Was there supposed to be?"

I shook my head, sighing. "No."

Grandma gently squeezed my leg. "I'm going to make you some soup, alright?"

I nodded as she heaved herself up and left me alone in my room.

Never would I admit it, but I wish Jaxon was here. Was he alright? Did the gray wolf hurt him?

My heart ached and I never felt so alone in my life. I wanted Jaxon here, I needed him here.

Rolling over in my bed as I hugged my pillow closer to myself, trying to ignore the pain in my chest. It seemed to grow stronger as the seconds ticked by. All this started because of Jaxon. Because of him, I now have chest pains.

"I freaking hate you so much." I grumbled.

"Well, it's nice seeing you too, love." A gruff voice said.

I jumped up in my bed, eyes wide on Jaxon who was sitting comfortably on my window sill. A smirk toyed on his lips as he pushed his brown hair out of his face.

"Oh, and stop locking your windows. It makes it harder for me to come in." Jaxon added.

I scoffed. "There is a door. Or should I install a doggy door for you?" I asked, watching his blue eyes brighten.

He chuckled, hopping off the sill to come and sit on my bed. "So you do want me around more."

I glared. "I didn't say that."

He grinned. "Technically, you did. And sweetheart, those tiny doggy doors are too small for me." He leaned closer to me, running his nose along my neck.

I shivered as my hands gripped the front of his shirt tightly, a tingling sensation where his nose skimmed across my neck. A rumble sounded in his chest.

"Jaxon..." I breathed. "What are you doing?"

"Just taking in your addictive scent. I need to calm down." He murmered, breathing me in still.

"Why do you need to calm down?" I asked him, afraid to move.

Jaxon pulled away from me. "Your Grandma is coming." He headed for the window.

"Jax, don't jump out the window, you idiot. You'll break your damn legs. Hide in the closet." I told him.

He smirked. "I wouldn't break my legs, love." He kissed my forehead, going into my closet the same time my Grandma walked in.

"Here you go, sweetie. Careful, it's hot." She gently handed me the soup with shaking hands.

"Everything okay, Grandma?" I asked her, watching as she glanced around the room.

She nodded. "Yeah..." She cleared her throat. "A fine boy is here for you."

My heart raced. How did she know Jaxon was here? Did she hear him? Is she mad?

"Who?" I asked, my eyes flickering to my closet where Jaxon hid.

"Hey, Lexi." His smooth voice entered the room.

My eyes widened as I took him in, surprised he was here. I didn't even know he knew I was here.

Here standing in my room was my ex boyfriend, the man I gave my entire heart too. My high school sweetheart. Little did he know, a most likely pissed off werewolf that had a wolfy claim on me hid in my closet.

"Eric?" I breathed his name out, my heart skipping a beat as he gave me a dimpled smile.
