Chapter 15: The Unexpected

Aunt Jenn has being seeing Kaden for two weeks. I think they're really getting serious. She's never dated anyone for two weeks before. I think that, if Kaden were to become my uncle, I think that would be okay. He's a cool guy, and he treats Aunt Jenn well. The dance on Saturday was amazing!! Josh and I, Avie and James, Eli and Danielle, and Jacob and his date Carla all had a blast. We danced and chatted and I loved it. And then when I got home, Aunt Jenn was chatting and giggling with Josie. It was kind of unusual, so I just stood in the doorway for a second.

"Umm, Aunt Jenn?"

"Yeah?"

"What're you so happy about?" Aunt Jenn looked at Josie.

She nodded, grinning. "Can I tell her, though?" I stood in the doorway, waiting for the news. "I'm pregnant!" Josie squealed.

"Oh no way!" I squealed higher than I've ever squealed before. I ran to give Josie a hug. "Mrs. Couley, that's awesome!"

"Lily, it's--"

"Josie, yeah, I know. I just got caught up in the moment. That's so exciting!! I'm happy for you," I said with a grin.

"Can I tell people?"

She nodded. "Just your friends, though." I nodded.

"How was the dance?" Aunt Jenn asked.

"It was good, I had fun," I said. "I'm tired, though, so I'm gonna go to bed."

"Okay, night sweetie." I waved and went upstairs. I fell asleep with a smile on my face. On Monday, the whole school was talking about the dance on Saturday. I plunked my tray down at the table.

"Hey, guys. Guess what?" I said in a singsong voice.

"What?" They chorused.

"Josh, you're going to be the most excited. Unless you already know. Anyways." I pause to build suspense. "Mrs. Couley's pregnant!!" I said excitedly.

"What?! No way," Avie said. I grinned and nodded.

"That's so cool!" James and Jacob said. Josh sat munching on his lunch.

"I already knew," he said when I asked him why he wasn't celebrating. "She told me after she got back from your house on Saturday."

"Haha! I knew before you," I said with a grin.

"Anyway," Avie said, "I've got something to tell you, too, and you might not like it. Well, umm, you see...my parents have decided that we are, umm, moving. To, uh, Missouri, at the end of the year."

"What?!" We all yelled together.

"Yeah, it's, uh, part of my dad's job," she said nervously. "I don't want to," she said, "but mum says it's for the best."

"But you can't," James said, aghast.

"I'm sorry, James, but we have to."
