Chapter 18: The Happily Ever After

Okay, I'll admit I did not see that coming, when Josh told me that I was his princess and that he'd been talking to me when he'd said "Hello, gorgeous." I was extremely surprised. I thought we weren't like that. Josh had said so himself. Okay, so I said so myself, too, but I had been lying. I guess he could have been lying, too. Anyway, life's back to normal, almost. Josh and I are not quite officially a couple. We date other people on the side to be safe, but I'm pretty sure he's the one for me. James and Avie, who are actually seniors, if you can believe it (I could not), are engaged and will be married after their graduation. Eli, who is a junior, really likes Danielle Eddy, the girl Josh and I set him up with. Josie and Josh are over almost every single day after school. Josie's helping me with my solo, and Josh, well...he's a little distracting 'cos he wants to take me places, so Aunt Jenn is teaching him to cook and bake. I miss my mum and dad, honestly I do, but my makeshift family (Aunt Jenn, Josie, Josh, Jacob, James, Avie, and Eli) are pretty fantastic, too. I know I'm going to get to see my parents again someday, so I move on with my life, hoping they'll be proud of me and trying to be the best and happiest I can be. It's not hard, what with my newly found religion, and my friends by my side. Ever since Josh died, I've been more caring towards people, even those I don't know. I always try to raise their spirits and make people happy, because you never know who's going to be gone soon. I want to make their last day (if it is indeed their last day), one of the happiest days of their life. I've enjoyed my first year at Denver High School, even amongst all the tricky little trials that were thrown at me and my friends. I've never been more positive about anything in my entire life: I know I'm going to do just fine in life, whatever I choose to do. It will be amazingly brilliant. And I'll be fantastic at it.
