Chapter 3

Evan POV

We were all stuffed full of fried food and super tired. Penny and Michelle had fallen asleep in the middle row. I was still wide awake though. I could see Tyler starting to fall asleep. His head flopped over and he snapped it back up again. My eyes couldn't stay shut for more than ten seconds. The stars were really bright and I could see the moon from my window. I was finally dozing off when all of a sudden Tyler fell over onto my shoulder.

What the hell? Oh no he's asleep!

Luckily it was dark because I could feel my face going bright red.

Crap...

I didn't sleep the rest of the ride. Penny's mom woke them up when we were almost home.

"Hey you guys can just spend the night, it's so late."

"I think we'll do that thank you" everyone agreed. It was for the best.

Michelle POV

It was the perfect plan. This sleepover was an opportunity to "observe" the guys. They had definitely been acting weird with each other and this was the chance to figure out why. I looked over at Penny who looked like she knew my plan. She nodded to me. The plan was on.

The boys were going to be sleeping in the living room and Michelle I in mine. We sat on the stairs listening to them talk.

Evan POV

Tyler and I started to set up our sleeping arrangements. There was an awkward silence between us. He wasn't really looking at me either.

"Hey E-"

"Ty-" I whispered cutting me off. "Oh sorry. You go first"

"Nevermind... Let's just go to sleep" he said looking away. He turned away and laid down. I could tell he wanted to tell me something. I laid down too.

Tyler POV

I looked at the clock. It had been an hour since I tried to fall asleep. It wasn't working. I couldn't get that moment off my mind. It was 2:30 am already, I was exhausted. I rolled back and forth out of boredom then sat up. Something outside made a noise. I stood up on my blanket and out the back doors to the porch. Nothing was out there. I walked out to the grass and checked. When I looked up to the tree I saw the stars. I laid down on the damp grass and stared at them for a while. It was so quiet and peaceful.

Does Evan love me? I mean he has a girlfriend. And there's no way he's gay. But...

"I wonder" I said to myself aloud.

"Wonder what?" asked Evan.

CRAP DID HE HEAR THAT?!

Evan POV

The sound of the back door shutting woke me up. There was an empty space beside me where Tyler should have been. I looked at the clock.

Where is he at 2 in the morning?

I squinted in the dark and tried to find my way to the door. Thinking it was an intruder, I was a little scared. I opened the door as quietly as possible. I saw a small figure laying on the grass. In the starlight I could see it was Tyler. He had his eyes closed so I snuck over and kneeled beside him. I couldn't tell if he had fallen asleep or not.

All of a sudden he said "I wonder" like he had been thinking about something important.

"Wonder what?" I asked.

He sat up. Even in the dark I could tell he was blushing because he put one hand over his face.

"I-I what are you d-doing out here?" he stammered.

"I could ask you the same ya know. Anyways what were you talking about?"

"It's n-nothing okay?"

"If there's something you want to ask me please do"

He removed his hand from his face and looked up at me.

"No, um, it's just-"

"What is it?"

He stood up with his fists clenched at his sides. I stood too, but he wouldn't look up at me.

I could see him trying to form s sentence but nothing came out. I had never seen him like this before and I didn't know what to do. I stepped forward cutting off his attempted sentence by pulling him into my arms.

Tyler POV

He pulled me into a hug. I immediately tensed up, but relaxed because it was him. I hugged him back tight.

He smells nice...

Evan pulled away from he and looked into my eyes.

Evan kissed my forehead and I smiled. All of a sudden the hours awake hit me and I felt myself losing consciousness. I started falling forward.

"Tyler are you ok? Ty-"

Tyler POV

Tyler leaned forward for what I thought was another hug but he fell instead. I barely caught him.

It's probably just from exhaustion. He seemed very tired.

I didn't really know what to do so I awkwardly picked him up and tried to carry him as best I could. Carefully, I laid him back down on the floor. I joined him and pulled the blankets up. He was freezing. It made me wonder how long he was out there. I pulled him close to warm him up. Seconds later I was asleep.
