"You ready, Side?", I yelled through the house as I gathered the bags and the cooler at the front door.

"Coming!", I heard coming from upstairs.

"I'll start packing the stuff in the West", I indicated as I slid a backpack on each of my shoulders and grabbed the cooler with my hands. I brought the things to our recently bought orange Volkswagen Westfalia. I started packing up, and soon Side joined me and helped me. We put most of our bags on the beds in the back of the van, and the cooler under the small table.

While Side put some food and drinks in the mini fridge in the van, I ran back inside the house to be sure not to forget anything. I locked all the windows and doors, closed all the lights, locked the front door and we were ready to go.

"You got everything, Sidey?", I said as I twirled the keys around my finger.

"Yep! I've got my phone, but that's only for emergencies. I also brought the aux cord", he smiled.

"We won't need it, Side", I laughed. "It's a 1994 Volks, there isn't usb plugs in the van."

Sidearms pouted as we both climbed into the van. "You called your mom before we leave?"

"Shit, no! Thanks for reminding me, Speedster!", he giggled as he quickly dialed his mom's number. A few minutes later, Side sat in the passenger's seat next to mine.

"Can we stop at my mama's house before we go?", Side said.

"Yeah, of course."

The ride to his mom's was silent, but it was okay because the ride wasn't long. She lived a few streets down ours, in a more suburban neighbourhood.

"I'll be quick!", Side said as I parked in front of the small blue house. He hopped out of the van and ran to the front door where his mom was already waiting for him. He disappeared into the house, followed by his mom.

A few minutes later, Side came back to the van with a huge box. I opened the door for him and he climbed up. We waved to his mom and off the road we were.

"What's in the box?", I asked as he sat down in his seat with the box at his feet.

"I don't know, man. Mom said she had a little something for us so the trip wouldn't be too boring. I didn't check yet."

"Mind to check it now?", I laughed. "I'm curious!"

He giggled his trademark giggle. "Sure, man."

I kept my eyes on the road as I heard Side rumaging through the carton. "They're all these weird things", he said as he held up one in his hand.

"Weird things?", I laughed. "Side, these are cassettes! You're mom is awesome."

"Cassettes? What the hell is this?"

"It's music, Side! Like CDs, but that was before there was discs."

"Ooooh! That's so cool, and old", he giggled. "Can we put one?"

"Sure, choose whatever you want", I smiled at my friend.

I watched him as he looked through the box again, holding up many cassettes, probably reading what was written on them. Finally, he chose one and put it in the cassettes reader of the Westfalia. He closed the little cassette holder and leaned back against his seat, waiting.

"You need to press play, Side", I reminded him.

He laughed, probably at his stupidity, and leaned back toward the radio to press play. As soon as he did, old folk music came blasting through the old speakers of the van.

I watched Side as his mouth dropped. "This is amazing!"

"Welcome to the 80's, Side. Welcome to the 80's."

a. n.: hello hello! I hope you liked the little introduction to the story. If you did, please make sure to vote if you liked it! There will defiantly be more chapters to this story.

I planned on writting short chapters like that, but making a lot of them. Also, I might be uploading two maybe three at a time, each time I'll upload chapters so you have a decent amount of chapters to read each time.

Tell me if this is a great idea! I'd like some feed back from you guys, and also, you might as well go check out my other stories as you're at it, eh? ;)

Hell in. (because peace out is too mainstream.)
