After my initial confusion wears off, Dorian decided to change the subject and invites me to dinner. My stomach growls as I sit at the dark wood table with a steaming, delicious plate of food. I haven't touched it yet because a thousand questions still swim around in my mind. The room we're sitting in brims with modern, ornate architecture and matching furniture. Dorian sits at the head of the table while Irina and I sit to his left and Cam and Hunter sit on his right. Vlad announced that he would not be joining us right after everyone else agreed to our little dinner party. I'd still be angry with me too...I decide to find him and apologize as soon as dinner is over. I finally pick up my fork and look around, no one watches but I can still feel everyone's eyes on me. I take the first bite and my eyes close in pleasure. This is the BEST food I've ever had! I take another bit then another, then I realize I must look like a pig and slow down. A server comes to take our plates and calls that dessert will arrive shortly. She gets to my plate and lingers by my side as she stares at me in wonder. I give her a small smile; she's startled at first then smiles back and quickly scurries away.

"Dorian?" I ask. He folds his hands and places his elbows on the table giving me his full attention.

"You said this place is a complex and you all are part of a society..." I remark as he continues to stare at me.

"Can you explain now what that means?" I query. Dorian's eyes narrow a fraction and he rises from his chair, he smirks again motions to the other agents. They all stand and I slowly rise too. Dorian stops the servers as they start to file in with cheesecake and asks them to wrap the cakes for later.

"I believe it's time for a proper explanation. Please.... Follow me." He answers. He waits until I am behind him and we walk down the vast hall out of the dining room and out yet another vast hall.

"I'm aware that you have been through a great deal, but I assure you that by being here you are safe." Dorian says as he clasps his hands behind his back and stares straight ahead.

"Who are you guys? Who were those people from at the hospital and why did they shoot at us?" I ask.

"Like I said we're the Velius Society, you see...we were founded to protect the innocent from the evil that hides in the shadows." He states as we exit the dining room and enter a huge foyer.

"Our existence goes back centuries to an ancient warrior named Illkay. He protected all that was good from the evil that threatened to plunge the world in darkness." Dorian goes on.

"Cool." I answer giving a small smile to him and to Irina on my right. She returns it earnestly but Hunter and Cam however.... Do not. The boys stroll next to me on the left with their hands in their pockets staring straight ahead. We head up a grand staircase and begin down a dark hall; there are landscape oil paintings on each side of the deep burgundy walls. Moonlight filters in through the large paned windows outlining different parts of each painting. I stare at all of the extremely detailed works of art that seem to depict homes from ancient times. I then peek at the many dark wood doors we pass wondering if they are all office spaces.

"As cool as it may sound, I'm afraid this is quite serious." Dorian says. We turn the corner and Dorian opens a set of large doors, which leads into a giant great room. Mountains of leather bound books and paper litter every available table space around the room and a huge fireplace kindles a warm fire. My body involuntarily shivers from the heat, I hadn't noticed before but I now realize how cold this building actually is. The agents make themselves comfortable on the couches near the fireplace but I continue to stand. Dorian goes to the large desk at the opposite end of the room, he leans on the edge and turns to face me with his arms folded.
