“I know this might sound a little harsh but um…have you completely lost your mind?!" Katie shrieks. It’s lunch and we’re at our usual table, as Katie nervously paces back and forth in front of us. Roman and I are seated enjoying the remainder of our triple cheese pizza. Yum!
“I guess I am, she just went too far and I’ve had enough of her tyranny.” I mutter then focus my attention back to my pizza crust.
“How can you be so calm? Tiffany is probably conjuring up different ways to bury you before the grad party, or maybe this will end like Carrie with you covered in pigs blood!” She folds her arms across her chest then shouts “Ohmigod! Imagine the stain! That would take forever to come out!” Katie fans her face like she’s about to pass out and flops into her seat opposite me. Katie always cared about her appearance ever since we were kids, she always did her best to stand out but not in an attention seeking way…more like she’d make sure you never forgot her.
“I don’t know, I guess I don’t care enough to fret over it.” I smirk and pop the last of my delicious pizza into my mouth.
“Roman…” Katie whines.
“Tell her she should be worried! You saw the look on Tiffany’s face after we left, it was twisted in anger then it just morphed into something sinister. She is definitely planning something evil for later I’m sure of it!”
“Ok first off you sound like a comic book,” he laughs.
“ And it might rebound but I thought it was pretty cool. Unfortunately for you Snowflake, you’re going to have to watch your back for the next 5-7 hours. But more importantly where did that temper come from? I’ve never seen you angry before.” Roman scrutinizes me, blue eyes curious.
“I…uh...” I stammer, unsure of what to say. Fortunately, Katie takes this opportunity to explain on my behalf.
“She’s always been that way, “Sweet Felicia who wouldn’t hurt a fly” but everyone soon learned the truth one day in third grade when Tammy Puckett went too far. She was so mean to everyone and I just happened to be her latest victim, she just wouldn’t leave me alone and on that day Tammy pushed me to the ground. That’s when Felicia lost her temper and shouted at her, the look in her eyes was enough to send Tammy for the hills and no one messed with me again. She’s been my best friend ever since.” Katie smiles proudly. I look away embarrassed that my temper hasn’t changed, what’s Roman going to think of me now?
“Wow,” he says finally.
“That was really cool of you, in my opinion Tammy got what she deserved, you were just standing up for your friend. There’s nothing wrong with that.” He assures. I smile in thanks and return to the issue at hand.
“Maybe you guys are right,” I admit.
“ That may have not been the smartest thing to say but my temper just got the best of me.” I sink a little lower into my seat as I let my past actions weigh on me and muse of what could happen since I insulted The Royal Pain in everyone’s butt. Looks like I care after all… Damn it all.
“Look she deserved it, I don’t care how many empty compliments she gives me no one messes with my best friend! Right Roman?” Katie says standing and leaning on the edge of our table all determined.
“Of course we’re here for you snow,” He says as he slings his arm over my shoulder. I blush, untangle myself and playfully punch him in the arm.
“Thanks guys who cares what Tiffany’s got planned? I’m not afraid of her or her plastic cronies.” I say gaining more confidence. I catch movement out of the corner of my eye, we look over and coming towards us are two girls dressed in black skirts. Nicki Azure the one on the right wears a purple sleeveless top with a skull on it and fishnet tights. Kat Massey, her best friend flanks Nicki’s left wearing a plain pink tank top and striped stockings. They both had front seats to my little outburst, probably coming to pay their last respects before Tiffany tries to end my existence.
