"Ugh," Sarah moaned, sitting up on the isolation room bed. "Is it morning already?"
"Didn't sleep well?" Emma asked, standing outside of the glass. She was carrying a cup of coffee and looked like she was just waking up as well. She wore her normal white lab coat, though there seemed to be something pink and silk peeking above her neck line.
"No, can I get out of here now?" Emma shook her head. "I never thought I'd miss waking up in a flesh cocoon, is that strange?"
"I'm a little more worried about your memory." Emma said. "Do you know what today is?"
"Tuesday?" Sarah asked
"It's two weeks since you've awaken. Cryogenic induced amnesia only lasts a few days. Do you remember anything more?"
"I remember I used to like anime back on Earth, but not much." Sarah admitted. "It's not coming back, is it?"
"Not on its own. If stimulated, you'll probably get more back, but shy of going back to Earth, well," She paused. "I'm sorry."
Sarah smiled. "Oh well, we're light-years away from Earth, it's not like it matters anymore." It was clear to see Emma wasn't buying it. An awkward moment passed. "So, what's going on?"
"Other than Carlos and Tex fighting again, not much. Mara's been communicating with Cleo, trying to persuade her to dethrone Carlos, and I have inoculated Lei with one of Mara's fangs." This brought a look from Sarah. "What did I, Eve. When did she... blast it Eve." Emma looked quite frustrated and marched back into the infirmary. It wouldn't do much good, seeing as she was Eve's host, but it was better than standing around.
"Oh, what to do today?" Sarah wondered. "Cleo, have you found a way out?"
"Not without breaking the glass, though I'd love to see the look on Carlos's face when he realized we broke out."
"Better, we spike his morning coffee, and tell him he's inoculated."
"Why stop there, why not the entire crew?"
"Uh, guys?"
"We're kidding Tyrone." Sarah replied. "There's not a lot to do in these quarantine cells." Sarah paused, as her cell opened. "Ok, what?" A familiar face peeked in. "Hey, it's you, KT right? How'd you get the door open, aren't you supposed to be in qu," KT grabbed Sarah by the shirt and dragged her out of the cell. "What do you think you're doing?"
KT did not respond, instead dragging her down the hallways to an elevator. She pressed a few buttons. "You were communicating with someone." She pressed a button and the elevator stopped dead. "Strip."
"What? No, I'm not taking my clothes off in an elevator. What's wrong with you?"
"You are a traitor to our people and way of life. Give me your communication device or I shall remove it from you." She looked dead serious, her eyes sparking, wait. Human eyes don't spark.
"Listen, I don't have a communication device, I'm just speaking resonant." KT did not listen, grabbing Sarah in a hold she did not recognize. Sarah tried to slip out of it, but KT was strong.
FIGHT IT! Sarah's veins flooded with adrenalin, Adam cells, Eve cells, and stranger things. She twitched, a single movement with forces exceeding anything a human had any right to exert. She threw off KT as if she had been a small child. Sarah took a step towards the girl, and her legs promptly turned to rubber. Her limbs burned with lactic acid, and Sarah began gasping uncontrollably.
"ADAM!"
Sorry... overdid it.
"You are speaking to someone." KT said. She knelt and unzipped Sarah's outfit, extracting her from it and promptly searching it. She held up the pocket printer, before discarding it for the blood knife plasmid. She examined it, turned it, and examined it again. "What is this?"
