Interview with Jade Olive 💕

"So, tell us your name." The interviewer, Daniel, laughed into the camera.

I cleared my throat before speaking. "My name is Jade. Jade Olive. Yes, Olive is my middle name. Never forget it."

He nodded while staring at me absentmindedly. "And tell us about yourself, Jade Olive."

"I am fifteen years old. My parents are Pastor William and First Lady Sandra Wright of First Bethune Missionary Baptist Church on the corner of 4th Avenue. Yes, I am a preacher's kid. I am a sophomore at Emerald High School."

"Very well said. What are 3 adjectives that describe you?" Daniel smirked.

I sighed and flipped my hair over my shoulder unintentionally.

"The 3 adjectives that best describe the side everyone sees are fierce, attitude, and careless. The 3 adjectives that I am deep inside somewhere hidden and never shows are funny, nerdy, and fun to be around."

"Why are you so fierce and have an attitude and often careless? If it's something personal, you can say skip."

"Skip."

The crowd chuckled and he went on to the end of the interview.

"Well thank you for your interview. Scared Beyond Straight will call in a few days to inform you on if you qualify or not for the show."

"Thank you for having me."

I shook his hand and got off of the stool. I walked towards Sandra and William as they stood watching.

"You did great." Sandra smiled.

"Thank you."

"We better get moving. We have Bible Study tonight."

I internally groaned and walked out of the door. I was just ready to get into my bed, not be pestered with foolishness the Bible Study Director brings.

As we sat in the car headed to church, I thought about some of the questions Daniel asked me.

Was I really ready for the world to know who I am?

I sighed softly and leaned my head against the window.

Do I really know who I am?
