I groaned, trying to massage my aching head.

"Keaira get down here," my mother shouted.

I groaned again from the loudness of her voice. It sounded like she was right next to me.

I quickly put on my blue robe and walked down stairs.

"Mom," I groaned. "What do you want?"

I walk into the kitchen with my eyes half-open.

I hear a small bark and feel my body get pushed down to the ground by a heavy weight.

"Chanel," I yelled happily, my hangover forgotten. I hugged Chanel. I haven't seen my baby in so long.

She looked at me while sitting down peacefully. I leaned down and gave her a kiss on her head before getting up for coffee.

"Hey sweetie," my dad said then briefly kissing my mom.

Once you've seen your parents kiss many times in your seventeen years of living, you get used to it.

I nod to my dad and get ready to take Chanel on a walk.

Just as I was about to walk through the front door, Travis jogged down the stairs.

"Going on a walk? I'll come too," he said.

I glanced at his attire. I'm pretty sure he was gonna go on a walk whether Chanel and I were or not, considering he was wearing basketball shorts and Nike shoes without a shirt.

I sighed and beckoned him to follow.

I laughed as we walked in the door, Chanel walking behind Travis while she nipped at his legs.

It's nice to know that no matter how many procegious places we put Chanel in, she always comes back more playful.

They both look up as my phone dings. I quickly glance at it and see it's from Tyler. I pat my leg calling for Chanel and run up to my room.

I shut the door as soon as Chanel makes an entrance.

I call Tyler instead of texting him back because I'm too lazy to text.

"Hey," Tyler says as soon as he answered.

"Hey. I was too lazy to text, so I called you. So, what's up," I asked.

"I actually texted you to ask if you wanted to go on a date tomorrow night," he questioned.

A date? With Tyler? My ex? Well then.

"Uh... Sure.. I guess. Where are we going?"

"Somewhere special," he replied.

Nah duh.

"Alright," I said smiling.

"Just wear something fancy," he added before hanging up.

I sighed jumping onto my bed. Seeing Chanel jump on quickly after me, I lay down. She quickly copies and curls around my body.

I lean over her to grab my homework.

While I'm doing nothing, I should at least try to bring up my grades.

I work on my homework until Travis bursts into my room twenty minutes later.

"Um... There's something called personal things. This is my personal room," I told him.

"Keaira, I need your help. I kinda need some money," he replied.

What?

"What? How much? Five dollars? Ten? Twenty," I asked.

"About.... a small loan of a million dollars," he muttered.

"A what," I screamed, "I am not giving you a small loan of a million dollars. Are you out of your mind? Why do you even need that much?"

What the heck?!

"I- There's a problem at the farm back home and this guy, Trevor, wants to buy our best cow, Bessie, and he's asking for a million big ones," he explained.

I stared at him. Is he kidding me? In spite of the situation, I start laughing. If this happened to you, you probably wouldn't believe it either.

"This is outrageous. I'm not giving you a small loan of a million dollars," I laughed.

"Kearia, I'm not kidding. I'll take you to her this Friday. Right after school. She's really important," he muttered.

I sighed deciding to go on this wild goose chase with him.

"Why not? What do I have to lose? A million dollars," I agreed, "Though why didn't you ask my father? Isn't he already suppling you guys for beef."

"It's too much money. He'd never inconspicuously give us a million dollars for fifty pounds of beef," he sighed.

I narrowed my eyes at him. If this really is a joke, then he's really thought this through.

Chanel barked at Travis. I leaned over to her to pet her fur.

I looked back at Travis.

"We'll go on Friday."
