Annabel Taylor
I came home soaked to the bone, shivering a little, and grinning from ear to ear.
Everyone was in the living room, watching a movie with the drapes drawn so everything was dark. Even my mom was in her chair, her feet up.
I felt a little left out, watching West's bored expression, Kolbie painting her toenails, and Chance and Macey stealing kisses in every other scene.
But...
"Where's Noah?" I asked.
West looked at me lazily, a small smirk on his lips. "The nerd didn't tell you? Kid has a date."
The happy, euphoric feeling began to slowly fizz out, leaving me down with everyone else. West didn't look away as my bubble became smaller and smaller and the smile slid off my face. He looked almost satisfied with his work.
Coldhearted bastard. I wanted to punch that stupid smirk off of his face.
I stomped off, feeling stupid for being angry. For being jealous. I had no hold on Noah. In fact, we were just friends. Sure, we got along, but everything was strictly platonic.
I stomped up the stairs and to my bedroom, not bothering to lock the door as I stripped off my wet clothes in an angry fury.
But how could he not tell me!? Was he afraid that I'd be mad? That I'd hit him? Sure, I'd hurt him in the past, but that was kind of on impulse and pure accident.
I flipped the shower on and stepped into the blazing hot water, hissing when it touched my skin. The cold tiles under my feet slowly warmed.
I decided to stay calm. I had no right to be angry at Noah for doing what regular guys do...
I grabbed a towel from the shelf in the bathroom and wrapped it around me, stepping into my bedroom. Chance was laying on my bed, his eyes closed.
I sighed heavily. He must've seen my childish storm out. "I'm fine, Chance."
"I think that's a lie, Anna. I really think it is."
"You do realize how ridiculous you sound right now." I grabbed a few pairs of clothes and went back into the bathroom to change.
"You're upset!" Chance yelled so I could hear him through the bathroom door. "And you know it!"
"I'm ignoring you!"
"It's fine to admit it, you know!"
I finished sliding on some clothes and opened the door to the bathroom, brushing my wet hair.
"It's fine to admit what, Chance? That I like him? Fine, I like Noah. But I'm seeing someone else and he, apparently, is too. So you, and everyone else who's on this 'Noah and Anna need to get together gig' to just butt out."
"I don't like him."
I stopped brushing for a moment. "Who?"
It was a rare thing for Chance not to like someone. He was one of those 'give the guy a chance' types. You had to do something really irritating or bad for him to actually say something about you.
"Silas. I don't like Silas."
I completely stopped brushing to look at my twin. He looked like someone who wished he hadn't said anything.
Chance hurried to explain, stumbling over his words in typical blonde-jock fashion. "It's just...something about him is...off. I don't like it and I know you really like him, Anna, so I wasn't going to say anything--"
"Something about him is off," I echoed in a flat tone. "How, Chance?"
"I don't know!" Chance looked frustrated for a moment. He rolled off the bed and stood up to start pacing.
"And that's not just it, Anna. He's always with you for some reason and you get all doe-eyed around him when I need you with your don't-mess-with-me face. When was the last time you gave someone the finger?"
"I--"
"Exactly!" he shoved a finger at me. "And you haven't even noticed what's been going on around here--"
"That's your job!"
"Yes, but I'm supposed to tell you and you're supposed to make it better! That's the way it's always been! And now some random guy comes along and you're acting like some love struck, sappy--"
"How do you think I felt when Macey came along, Chance!?" I exploded. "I love her, but God! Mom has her garage, dad has his movie career, West has the horses and his girls, Kolbie has fashion, you have Macey, and what do I have!? Nothing! You used to be my go-to but you've been at sleepovers and parties and--"
"I'm cheating on Macey."
My jaw dropped. I brought my hand over my mouth. "Oh my God. Oh my God, oh my God, Chance. Chance."
"I didn't mean to tell you that." Chance looked as white as a sheet. "I really didn't. It's just been killing me." He dropped onto the bed, leaning forward to put his face in his hands.
"Oh my God." I couldn't process it. My brother Chance. Cheating on his on and off girlfriend. It was like Bert murdering Ernie or Shaggy and Scooby Doo having a love child. It just couldn't be possible.
Chance loved Macey. Macey loved Chance. It had always been that way and no matter what happened, I could count on that.
How had I not noticed? The sleepovers? The prolonged absences? The way his affectionate gestures had seemed lackluster lately?
I was a horrible twin.
While I was beating myself up, Chance was doing to the same.
"I didn't mean for it to happen, I really didn't." Chance groaned. "She's just--"
"Chance." I swiftly crossed the room and grabbed my brother by his shoulders firmly. He'd really been working out. I could barely get my hand around it. "Look at me."
He looked up. He looked so guilty. I felt horrible.
"We're going to fix this, okay? But you're going to have to choose between Macey and..."
"Her name's Teagen." He smiled a little.
"Weird name, but okay. Teagen." Chance rolled his eyes, but he didn't stop smiling.
And then he processed what I said. He frowned. "I can't."
"You're gonna have to."
"I'm an asshole."
"Yes. Yes you are." I lt go of his shoulders and went to retrieve the brush.
"I want you to meet her."
I paused. "Chance..."
"Please?" I heard him stand up. "I just feel like...if you approve then maybe it'll be okay."
"Cheating is never okay."
"It's not going to be cheating in a few days."
I turned. "You're breaking up with Macey?"
"I'm breaking up with Macey."
I sighed. "Fine. When can we go see her?"
"How about now? We can go for ice cream."
He knew how much I liked ice cream when it was raining outside. I smiled a little. "Sure. But only if I like her."
"You'll love her." Chance beamed and walked over to me in huge, quick strides, scooping me into a hug. I hugged him back, breathing his smell. It was comforting. We hadn't done this in a long time.
"Thanks, sis." he mumbled into my hair.
"No problem."
"...There's one more thing."
I pulled back, looking at his face. He looked ready to burst. I sighed. "What is it?"
"You're sure you want to know?"
No. I do not want to know. Please, please don't tell me. Ignorance is bliss, Chance, I'm sure it'll work itself out-- "I'm sure." My parents did not raise a coward.
"Mom's pregnant."

BOOM! Goes the bomb! We are getting into the story now! Yes!
Chance is cheating?
Noah's dating soemone else?
And *GASP!* Jamie's pregnant!?
Oh I LOVE writing this. No Noah or Silas in this chapter, just some twin action. So now you know why Chance hasn't been around! But don't worry! He is officially IN IT!
Comment! The faster you comment, the faster I upload! And thank you for the birthday well wishes! I loved them!
