Run Away

Chapter 8

Ava's POV

I got up and looked around. Wait.....why am I in Jacen's house? I walked to the kitchen. I saw Jacen sitting at his island with his hands on his head.
"Jacen?" I said
He looked at me, and his face was pale like a ghost. He had tears rolling down his face but he wiped them away fast.
"Are you-" he cut me off
"No, I'm fine." He said with a shaky voice
His house was quiet,nothing to it but his dog that was walking around.
I sat down next to him, my face hurt. He was still trying to wipe away the tears.
"Jacen what's wrong?" I asked
He wouldn't even look at me, "Jacen, look at me! What's wrong?" I said
He looked at me, "If I tell you will promise not to tell my parents that I read it!" He said
"Sure?" I said confused
He slid the note over to me, I started to read it.

Dear Roth family,
I am very sorry to say that your grandma Betty had past away later today because she tried to drive to the store and got into a car accident. She went into the hospital but they tried to do everything to save her but she was bleeding to much and lost to much blood. I'm very sorry.

I looked at Jacen
"I'm so sorry." I wanted to hug him but I didn't know if it would be weird
I thought of a different topic.
"Why am I here?" I asked
"I didn't know where you were. I went to get a drink and I heard your scream.." Jacen explained to me the story. He sniffled
"Thanks." I said with a smirk
He nodded his head
"Do you want to go out side, get some fresh air?" I asked
"Sure.Want to go out back?" He asked
"Yeah!" I said
He took me to his back yard and we stopped and stared. His back yard was a woods, you could hear the city behind the forest.
"Come on, I want to show you something." He said walking toward the forest
I followed him. I stared up at the leaves starting to grow back on the trees. It was a sunny day out but soon going to be night. I saw this tree house like thing ahead, I realized that was are destination. He started walking up the ladder I was right behind him like a little kid. We didn't hold hands or anything, I mean we are just friends....
"I haven't been up here sense I was a little kid." He said
"Cool." I said looking around
The tree house was a circle like shape but a little dusty inside. There was a red chair tipped over and a yellow one up right. We went out to this deck and it showed the city. You could see skyscrapers and the lights beginning to turn on, the sun was setting.
"It beautiful." I said starring at him
"Yeah." He said starring back
He grabbed my hand and I held on to his. We where now looking at the city. Maybe we would be more than friends...
