Chapter 20

~~~Ariana’s POV~~~
            I felt myself bolt up in my chair and start to shake.
            “He-he did what?” I stammered, my heart breaking for this poor man and for Tyler who betrayed my trust again.
            I stumbled backwards, while Prince just looked down at his empty plate.
            “No! There’s- there’s no way! Why?” I said falling to the floor sobbing.
            Prince immediately looked up and got out of his chair. He practically ran over to me, and pulled me up.
            “Sorry, sorry I shouldn’t have said anything. It’s okay. Shhhhhhh everything’s fine,” he whispered into my ear while rubbing small circles on my back.
            I don’t know how long I sat there for, but my mind was still foggy by the time he let me go. All that I could process was that Tyler, Tyler was a killer. I mean, I knew that there’s no way that he could have gone without killing a single man, but a defenseless woman? Someone who had never done anything to anger him? I thought that after so long, I would’ve known him better. But, was that all a face he put on?
            “Um listen, I didn’t know that you would break down like this. I wouldn’t have told you this otherwise. Uh, Sorry about all of this,” Prince said uncomfortably scratching his head.
            I looked up and waved him off to let him know that I understood, but then asked a question that had been flitting around in my head, “How did she die?”
            Prince’s eyes narrowed again before he closed them. After he took a deep breath, obviously reliving the memory he said, “It’s better to be left alone.”
            I frowned then asked trying to deny the fact that Tyler’s a ruthless killer, “There has to be a reason right?”
            “Ariana, love is blinding you. So, I’ll tell you only this. Tyler, he was my best friend. He had known how much I loved Antalya. He’d actually met her before he’d left to become a pirate. We never did anything to him, and when he killed her right in front of me, he never felt sorrowful. He doesn’t have the ability to love. I-I don’t think he really loves you.”
            I gasped when I heard this. He’d broken my trust already twice, and obviously he’s broken Prince’s and Antalya’s trust to, but was it really true that he was playing me? Toying with my feelings? This was all too much for me and so I did what every damsel in distress would do. I fainted, but before darkness consumed me, I saw a single teardrop slipping down Prince’s face and falling to the floor.
~~~Prince”s POV~~~  (Omg new POV!!!!!)

            I mentally broke down when I saw her on the floor crying. She reminded me so much of Antalya, that I’m going crazy.

*Flashback*

            “Antalya! Do you want some butter on the bread?” I shouted from the kitchen.

            I suddenly felt two arms around my waist, hugging me from behind, “Mmm that sounds yummy.”

            Knock knock.

            “Sweetie, can you go grab the door? I’m not done yet,” I said turning around giving her a quick peck on the cheek. She smiled adoringly before walking out yelling who is it? If I had known that that it was the last time I would’ve seen a small twinkle in her eyes, or the way a blush overtook her face, I would’ve held onto her longer. I never would’ve let her go, maybe then, everything that’s happened wouldn’t have come. And I would have her by my side right now.

            But, she’s not here now. The next thing I heard was her ear piercing, heart breaking scream followed shortly by a gunshot. The next moments are forever etched into my mind. I remember dropping the pan and taking exactly 10 running steps to get to the door. Antalya stood there facing me. I could see a small hole right through her heart, the blood already slowly seeping through her snow white nightdress. The fear and panic still fresh in her eyes, surrounding the understanding of death and love towards me. She mouthed my name one last time and as I stood there watching my love, my heart die, she fell forward, her eyes fluttering closed, her heart beat slowing down, her body losing the warmth that comforted me, I was losing her. With a thud, I had lost my life; nothing mattered to me after that few seconds. I looked up ready to kill, only to see my best friend, someone who I haven’t seen since he took off to become a renown pirate, standing there holding the gun, and looking at me with an unreadable expression.

            “Finally, you’ll understand my pain,” Tyler said in monotone, tucking his gun back, “And eye for and eye Prince.”

            And with that he walked out of our, now my cottage. He never felt remorse for what he did, never looked back, and just left after killing the reason why I had lived and saying nonsense. An eye for an eye? Are you kidding me?  I haven’t seen him at all for the last year. I had spent that whole time working so that Antalya and I could have this serene place. A palace that now brought back horrific memories. As I stood there in shock, I promised that I will get my revenge on him. No matter what it takes or how long I’d have to wait, I’m going to make his life hell after this. Tyler, our 10 year friendship is no more. You’re my one and only enemy now. I’ll make you feel haunted from this day on for killing Antalya.
