the alpha

"Two times two is four. Four clocks. The grandfather clock goes bong bong bong. King Kong in Hong Kong. Japanese air planes. World war -"

"What are you saying?" The girl says.

"Who knows?" I laugh. I start skipping around. She shakes her head sadly at me.

"You've lost your mind Chris. Literally ."

I stop " have I? How do you know this isn't the real world that I'm in and your the one that's different."

"I hope someone finds us." She tears up. Why is she crying? I couldn't think about being anywhere else but here. I know I had another life but its like a dream. I could remember it clearly if I tried but why could I? I hear the door open. The other girl Whos name I forgot hides behind the couch.

"Hide!" She hisses.

"Why?" I smile. I run to the bottom of the stairs.

"Hi!" I say to the guy/captor. He looks suspiciously at me. Then grins.

"I see there's been a side effect. Where's your friend huh? Oh well. She's not the one I want to see. Come here." I start to wall up the stairs.

"Stop!" The girl cries out. I waiver. Should I go to the guy or stay.

"No, come here Chris. Its you or her." That makes up my mind. I trot up the stairs.

"Let's go." I smile widely. Maybe we can go on the Farris wheel. Ha! I'm not letting the other girl go to the carnival instead of me. I love that place.

"Can we get cotton candy on our way there?"

"If you're good enough."

"Yay!" I jump up and down. He shakes his head.

"I can't believe there's this big of a side effect. So what if there's a big side effect, just as long as the mutts loose there animal." He mutters.(ha ha get it. Mutt-mutter.... No? Oh well). He leads me into a lab.

"Sit in the chair."

"After that do we get to go to the carnival?"

"Yeah. Now go sit."

"Whee!" I run to the chair. He puts restraints on me. Suddenly I brake out laughing hard. This goes on for five minutes. The hunter wrights down on his paper. Then I tear up and start to cry. This last for ten minutes. When I stop I wipe my nose on my shoulder. I'm still sad. The hunter scribbles more feverishly.

"Okay time to check vitals."

Jace

I await by the trees. My pack behind me. We're going to wait until him and his pack come from their meeting. Five minutes later the alpha walks into view. I signal for the pack to wait. Something isn't right. I can practically smell the depression on him. The way he walks without any feeling. I walk to the alpha eyeing him.

"Go ahead. Kill me. I don't care. I can't live without her." That surprises me. Alphas are suppose to be strong. They don't show weakness. He must see the confusion and surprises on my face.

"My mate. She's gone. No one can find her. Not even me. All we know is that a hunter took her." I mind link my pack telling them to leave. 'What! Why?'
'Are you questioning me? I am your alpha! Respect my orders.' They leave.

"The same happened to my mate." He looks up surprised.

"She was taken by a hunter and we know who it is. He could be the same guy who took your mate." He perks up.

"Really? Do you think so?"

I smile at him" yes and we know where he lives."

"I'm in."
