Two years (Chapter 7)

Nico's POV

After lunch i went over to the sword arena where Y/n was already waiting.

"Come on let's find you a sword" i said walking towards the weapons shed.

"What about this one?" she asked taking out a black sword about two feet long.

"I didn't know we had any swords like that anymore" i say surprised that she would find it much less want to use it.

"But... i can i use it? Right?" she asked hopefully.

"Sure, whatever you want" i said walking back over to the arena.

"Before we start you should know...I umm... I'm terrible at sword play" she says looking down at her feet.

"You'll be fine" I say raising my sword "You did fend off a hellhound after all"

For hours she dodged all of my strikes and slashes like she was born for it. She slashed at my ankles, causing me to jump back, but the flat of her blade caught my foot and i fell to the ground on my back. She put her blade to my throat.

"Not bad. For a first timer" I say smirking.

"Thanks... I guess" she said as she removed her blade from my throat and helped me up.

She started walking away to get some water when I decided that i would challenge her some more. So with the flat of my blade i sliced to trip her but she jumped right over my sword and spun around. Now our blades were crossed. I used an old trick and with the tip of my sword i threw her blade from her hands, pointing mine at her chest.

"First timer" I repeated, finally feeling satisfied.

She grinned at me "Then I guess you got beaten by a 'first timer'"

"What?" I asked, confused.

Then faster than I ever thought humanly possible, she ducked under my sword and kneed me in the stomach, grabbed my sword and kicked me to the ground, sword pointed at my neck.

She smiled even more "Not bad. For a first timer" she said mimicking me in a mock deep voice.

"Very funny" I said gritting my teeth.

I heard clapping from behind us. It was Percy, along with Annabeth, Leo, Piper, and Jason.

"Couldn't have done it better myself" Percy said grinning.

Y/n laughed "Thanks Percy"

"Don't you have somewhere to be?" I asked, a bit of anger in my voice

"Nope. It's freetime. Jason said we should come and get Y/n" He said

"Really?" Y/n asks as she checks her watch "Nico, We've been practicing for like 4 hours" she said surprised.

"I guess time flies when you're having fun" Leo said grinning mischievously.

"Or being beaten to a pulp" I murmured.

"What was that?" Y/n asked, smiling a bit.

"Nothing" I said.

"Sorry Nico but we have to steal Y/n from you now" Leo said grabbing Y/n's hand. She seemed startled by this but then relaxed and took her hand away from his.

I felt anger wash over me. "Whatever" I say walking away "I'll see you later Y/n"

I was actually starting to have fun for the first time in along time, fighting with Y/n had been the best time I had here. Making remarks back and forth, taking turns beating each other, even with her beating me most the time I had fun. Truth is, we could've gone back and forth like that for at least another hour.

Then they came. Percy, Annabeth, Jason, Piper, and Leo, all came and took her away just like that. At this point, I wanted to be alone, so I walked out into the forest and sat leaning against Zeus's fist.

I remembered when Y/n had said Thalia had offered her to join the hunt, I had been so angry and hurt, I wanted to punch Thalia in the face. 'Does she have to take everyone I care about?' I asked myself.

I know I just met her but she's the only one who didn't think I was a freak just because my father was Hades. She had even called me her friend, and she doesn't avoid me like everyone else. I figured it would be at most two years until she was trained well enough to join the hunters. 'Maybe I could convince her to stay within those two years' I thought. But I knew that when it came down to it, it was her choice not mine. Two years and she might be gone.Two years.
