Why'd She Have To Go?

I remember it like it was yesterday, the pain seeping into my heart..

Oh Jamie..., why'd you have to leave? Why'd you leave me here alone..? I'm so scared without you, all alone in this cruel world..

It was the last time I saw Jamie, the day I lost everything I loved.

Walking outside, my 12-year old self grabbed Jamie's arm "Jamie come on, it'll be fun! I wanna look at the sky!"

"Nope, Aph you know it's not safe! Dad is gonna get mad at us..."she whispered.

"Awww come on Jamie! I know how much you love to stargaze! Besides, we need to live our lives to the fullest! When will we get to lay down in the grass, see the stars, and just talk!"

"Fine Aph...,you win..." She said grumbling.

We were laying down, just laughing at each other's joke when we heard dad's voice.

"Jamie, where are you? Get over here!!" He roared.

I watched Jamie walk away, her beautiful brown hair swaying in the wind.

The last time I'd see that beautiful hair of hers.

I crawled towards the door and I saw it. Dad had hit Jamie.

He hit my older sister, the one I couldn't live without

He yelled something at her and she went into the basement, closely followed by my father.

I was scared

I wasn't strong or anything

A few minutes later I got curious and went to the basement.

I was horrified

On the ground was a naked Jamie. She had a slit across her throat and a knife in her stomach. There were bruises all over her body and cuts all along her wrists. The blood had puddled up around and on top of her, like the last warm velvety blanket she'd ever have, sending her to death's doorstep.

I knelt down beside her and she whispered something in my ear.

"Aph, don't worry about me. If Dad didn't kill me, I would've killed myself. You've got Garroth to blame for that, that damn bastard broke my heart. Don't be mad at Nicole, Garroth forced her. Finding out the truth made everything harder for me. I love you Aphmau, I could never wish for a better sister."

No. My sister, she's only 14.

For a 13 year old, he sure was a player.

Coming out of the shadows was my father, his clothing torn to shreds.

By the emotionless expression on his face, I could tell, he wasn't phased at all by his actions.

This wasn't the first time he'd done it and certainly wasn't the last either.

Looking back at Jamie, it hit me.

I felt so stupid, how had I not noticed before?

Jamie had been beaten and raped by my father. I remembered seeing Jamie being sent to the basement before with my father, but...I never thought this was happening.

The slits on her wrist, to be left there forever.

"Aphmau, you forget you ever saw this, or you'll have the same fate...."he growled under his breathe.

Teddy Bear

She was a teddy bear

Warm and cuddly

Soft and sweet

But there was a truth I hadn't uncovered

I saw her with slits on her wrists

Realization in my mind

She was the tailor of those ugly stitches

Stitches don't go away

But she did

After that day, my life had changed. I became the target of my father's beatings.

I was no longer the sweet bubbly girl Laurance knew. I had to avoid him, my best friend. I couldn't tell him why, but I remember my last words to my best friend.

"I'm sorry Laurance, but I can't drag you down with me. You don't need to be associated with my problems any longer. Say goodbye to the girl you once knew.

My Orphan Boy."

Memories are painful. Good or bad, all memories bring up emotions. The bad can hurt you more than you are and the good remind you of what you're missing out on.

Okay guys! I am so happy with this backstory!

You may want me to clear things up though.

1) Garroth is 13, Aphmau is 12, and Jamie (OC) is 14. But, they are all in the same grade. Take it this way: 12 and 13 is the normal age in 7th grade, but Jamie was held back a grade because she spoke a different language when born. (Jamie and Aphmau's mom was/is Spanish)

2) Garroth and Nicole ship. I checked the wiki, this is indeed a ship!!!!

3) Yes, the poem was indeed created by mwuah!

Heh, anyways guys my focus is kinda on this book right now *cough cough* My ELA teacher is reading it *cough*. I am working on my other books on the side at the moment, but again, DITDoD (Descending into the Depths of Despair) is my main focus. Also, if anyone is interested, I have a collaborative account with my BFF Sam ( Sam_CarpeBlanc ) called GrammarNazi-LazyFox. The account is mostly for Original books (not published YET!!!!) but some of the oneshots will be of either MCD/MS (MInecraft Diaries and Mystreet) or GMW ( Girl Meets World).
