I knew he was cheating. It broke me into pieces, but somehow I've kept strong. I sighed, and scooted away from Shawn.

"Babe, what's wrong?" He asked, placing his cold hand on my thigh. I looked at his hand, and pursed my lips as I looked back at his face. He knew I knew.

I gulped, "Shawn, do you love me?" I asked, hoping he'd say yes. But he didn't answer. "Do you think we'd work?" I began. "I know what you did. I've known that for a while, now. Do you know that I know?" I asked.

He struggled to say an answer, and his lips were trembling. "I-I um, I-I d-don't um," He stuttered, atempting to make another excuse and apology.

"Look at you," I puffed a laugh. "trying to make an excuse. Why do you, Shawn? You break people? What happened to you? I want my Shawn back. The Shawn I knew and loved wouldn't c-cheat on me."

"I am the same Shawn! I'm just broken. I don't know what h-happened." He said, looking gloomy. I wanted to fix him, but I don't know how. "I wanna love you but I don't know how. ." His eyes were blanketed by the tears that were ready to spill.

Shawn pressed his lips to a thin line, and spoke. "I'm afraid. ."

"Of what?"

He closed his eyes, "I'm afraid that I'll break you. I'm afraid that I'm not enough for you! Can't you see? I'm this guitar boy that keeps breaking you! Camila, I'm not right for you!" He spilled out tears; making little droplets of water appear on his shirt.

I swallowed, making me breath unsteady. I cleared my throat, in awkwardness. "Well, I am broken too. Maybe we are not right for each other, but maybe we are." I said, looking at him in the eye. "We'll find out later—hopefully we'll get back together in the end. But for now, we'll just. . Set free." I breathed out with a light smile at the end.

"Set free. . . that's. . . nice. I'll see you at school on Monday. Friends?" He asked with a light smile. I nodded, and hugged him.

"Friends."
