Luke

The crowd stood cheering, screaming my name up at me, but all I could hear was the way she had cried against my chest that night.

"Don't go, Luke, please don't go." She clung to my shirt, desperate to hold on. I didn't want to walk away, but I would rather her move on than wait for me to come home.

"You deserve better than what I can give you. I'll never be able to give you a steady relationship, let alone a steady life. I don't even know how far this band thing could go. We never know, I could be back in Sydney by June, or I might never make it back." I held her close and let her cry.

I moved up to the mic.

"So you guys, its been a while since we played here. And I just want to say it's really good to be home." The crowd was cheering again. I tried to keep a smile up. The fans didn't have a clue. "This next song is a special song. It's not one we play often-"

"Which song is that?" Michael looked over at me from where he stood with his guitar. I laughed a little.

"SoATU, Michael," I said and then turned back to the squealing girls in the front row. I desperately wished she was in that front row.

"Like I was saying, this song isn't the most well known of our songs. We wrote it with... I guess all of us having a story of something with someone we wanted to go back and do over. So this is Story of Another Us. And it goes like this," we started the song. With every line a flash of a memory came back of her and me and this town. All the things that went wrong played out with a different ending.

"An epilogue before we're done, no sequel to what we've begun," the line seemed so appropriate. I glanced back out at the front row again. I imagined her smiling at me, between two of the girls. My heart ached to think of her. "One last ditch, a new beginning, so take this heart put yourself in it, the surprise ending I'm depending on. Be the story of another us." I closed my eyes as I sang. Trying to fight off the images of her, smiling at me as we ran around the sun drenched streets of Sydney, before the band took off. Michael began singing his piece, about the front row of last resorts and it hit me. I had been an idiot. All those long term plans could have worked. We could have made it. But I had pushed you away. And now you were probably in the arms of some other guy, who had been willing to fight.

"Luke mate, you alright? You lookin' a little blue." Ashton perched on the back of the couch, Michael seated to the left of him.

"Yeah. Fine. Just a little out of it, being back home and all." I didn't admit it out loud, but it was really me missing y/n. They didn't know I still missed her. No matter what I did for the publicity, y/n was in my heart.

"Earth to Hemmo, hullo?" Calum waved his hand in front of my face from over me. I turned and looked up at him. "Someone's at the door for you." I gave him a confused look and he gave me his "go flirt" look. I sighed. Probably another fan. Standing I walked over and opened it to see... Her?

"Y/n?" I said softly. She looked up at me, just as she had in the crowd. She HAD been in the crowd! Right there!

"Hey, Luke," she almost whispered. I watched her for one second. Two. She glanced between my lips and my eyes and I knew. She was mine. She was still mine. If I would fight. I grabbed her and pulled her close, pressing my mouth to hers, losing control. This was my one last ditch, a new beginning. I heard Calum make a snide remark about never moving that fast in my life. I flipped him off and the guys busted out laughing. I pulled back and looked into her eyes. She smiled and whispered words I'd never forget.

"The surprise ending, I'm depending on. Let this be the story of another us?" Her eyes begged me to say yes and I held her tight to my chest, my lungs so tight I could barely breathe.

"Our story of another us."

Lol. First 5sos song I have actually used. But this one is my favorite from SGFG. It's on the Target edition if you don't recognize it. And you should give it a listen because it is gold. Pure gold.
