It's Not What It Looks Like!

I get up super early in the morning to make breakfast because we have a guest and that's only the polite thing to do- and with the look she gave me yesterday, I'm trying to get her to actually like me instead of her giving me all the looks in the who do you think you are? handbook.

Dan isn't up yet, but I assume Paige is because of the sound of her Spotify playlist filling Dan's room. I know it isn't Dan's playlist because I know he doesn't listen to Maroon 5, and 5 seconds of Summer.

Dan finally gets up and makes his way over to the kitchen, where I'm making everyone pancakes. We usually have cereal, but what is better than showing off to the guest and pretending like we eat like this every morning? Probably winning an Oscar, but you get the idea.

"Morning." Dan says loudly. I assume that Paige didn't want to be alone with me in the kitchen, so she waited for Dan to come out so she could, too. Typical.

She joined Dan and I in the kitchen, and sat down in the grey chair.

"Paige, how many pancakes do you want?" I ask.

"3, please." She says, politely. Huh.

I pick up 3 pancakes with a spatula and place them on the plate in front of her. She digs in to them as if she hadn't eaten in days- which she probably hasn't because she has been living on the streets of London. Hmph.

"Thanks, Bill- I believe?" She says, playing with her fork.

"Phil. My name is Phil." I correct her, sounding a bit stern, I confess. But really? Bill?

"Yeah that's it." She takes another bite of her pancakes.

A while later

We have all finished our pancakes, and are sitting on the couch watching an old film. Paige is snuggled up next to Dan. Typical. I can't believe they used to date.

Oh. That's right. I haven't told you about Paige. So she's about 24 years old, slightly younger than Dan; Her and Dan used to be the school's biggest couple, but they broke up because she moved away. She used to live a few miles away, until she got kicked out for picking a fight with her neighbors. She left Dan completely heartbroken, but he doesn't seem too heartbroken now.

They're snuggling together like the perfect couple they used to be.

Jealous? Me? NO! I'm just upset and kind of feel left out because this girl simply barges into his life and steals him away from me completely. All his attention used to be on me, but now she's being fed attention on a silver platter.

Dan has to go to town later to pick up his laptop that I has spilled coffee on. But don't blame me! It was the lizard! So that will just leave Paige and me. Alone. Under the same roof. ALONE. The girl who doesn't even know my name. Uh.

later...

"Okay! I'll be back in an hour, I need to go pick up some stuff too."

"Alright." I mumble.

Dan grabs his keys, phone, and he's out the door before I can turn around to wave him goodbye.

Paige is probably in Dan's room. While she is, I'm in the living area trying to fix the CD's like I said I would eventually. I sort out films like the Titanic and Big Hero 6, to Matilda and old band CD's. I reach over to grab another pile when I feel a slight weight on my shoulder. I flinch and look up to see Paige standing over me, her shirt nearly unbuttoned. My eyes widen.

She pushes me back onto the couch and places her hand on my chest.

"Paige?! What are you doing?" I manage to say through the shock.

"Well come on Philly, let's have a little fun. Dan won't be home for another hour."

"What? Okay first of all, you got my name wrong, you completely ignore me during your stay, and the one time that Dan is away, you try to make a move on me?" I lean back, trying to get away from her, but she has me cornered.

"Dan won't know." She bites her lip and starts unbuttoning her shirt.

I take her wrists and stop her. She refuses and pins my arms over my head. I feel a pain on my lap as she presses her leg onto my crotch. I whimper a bit.

"No! Get off me!" I yell. She puts my arms down and leads them over to her crotch. I pull my hand away and try to scoot her off my lap. She replaces her knee with her hand on my crotch.

"N-no!" I say as she starts to unbutton my pants.

I lose balance and my arm goes numb from all the pressure. She presses her lips to my ear and whispers "He won't know."

I hear the door slam open from across the room, and Dan runs in.

"Phil?! Paige?! What are you doing?!!!!" He yells furiously. Paige freezes in shock, and so do I.

"It's not what it looks like!" I yelp.

Paige quickly buttons her shirt back up and stands up. I can see the Dan's eyes filled with anger.

Paige grabs her backpack from the couch and dashes off out the door of the apartment, not saying a word.

I get up, run into my room, and close the door. Dan barges in two seconds later and walks over to me, slams the door, anger in his eyes.

I back up against the wall in complete fear.

He gets closer to me and what happens next surprises me.

He pushes me, and yells in my face.

"What did you think you were doing?!" He pushes me even more.
"Dan-" I try to say,
"What happened when I was away?!!!" He screams louder. I haven't seen him this mad ever.

"SHE CAME ONTO ME!" I yell back. Dan pauses for a second.
"I wasn't intending to do anything of the sort! Nothing happened! She came onto me, and I was trying to get her off!" I explain.

"Why are you so CLINGY, PHIL?" He shouts.
"Why are you always so obsessed with me?! Why do you hate her so much?!!!"

I snap.

"WELL MAYBE BECAUSE SHE JUST BARGED INTO OUR LIVES AND YOU HAD COMPLETELY FORGOTTEN ABOUT ME! SHE HAD ALL THE ATTENTION AND I WAS FORCED TO WATCH HER SNUGGLING UP TO WHAT BELONGS TO ME."
There's a silence.
Did I just? No!

Dan stares at me in complete shock.
"I just.." I feel a blush come on to my face and I storm out of the room, embarrassed.

I leave Dan in the room and go upstairs to the office.

I sit down and bury my head in my hands.
Why did I say that? Well now he knows. What now.?

I feel a slight nudge on my shoulder. I look up from my hands and meet Dan's gaze. He looks at me with soft, sweet eyes, apologetic eyes.

"Phil.." He says. I stare at him, waiting for rejection.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know." He sighs.

Dan sits beside me and puts his hand on my knee.
"Would it be wrong if I said I get jealous when you get close to somebody..?" I nod 'no'.
"Good. Because I do. I don't know why I get jealous, I mean- you're not even mine-"

He stops.

I look back down at the floor, ignoring Dan.
He takes his hand and lifts my chin so that I'm looking directly into his eyes.
"But It doesn't have to be that way.."
I feel a strong blush come across my face.

He takes my face in his hand and slowly presses his lips to mine.

I feel so many things all at once.
Loved, anxious,...numb.

I don't realize I'm kissing back until I feel him bite my lip. He pulls away.

"Not anymore." He smiles softly.
