A light from a pair of headlights shines brightly as a car pulls up. Mimi protrudes from her car with a painful expression, "This how it is?"

Jasmine freezes before she opened the driver's side of her car.

I gasp and was just about to call out her name from the opening window until I see her shake her head, "I came to check up on you since you wasn't answering none of my calls. You don't even have to say nothing, I get it, as long as you fine."

She goes back in her car and my heart crashes into the pit of my stomach.

"M-Mimi!"

- ♧ Jasmine's POV ♧ -

Hearing Mimi say that pissed me off. She was about to back out of the driveway but I stood behind her car. She hastily stepped on the brakes and the car halted within seconds from breaking bones.

The drivers door opened and she steps out with tears streaming down her face, "Why?"

"Are you kidding me?" I walk up to her, "Do you even know what is going on! I should beat your ass right now! For allowing Jade's father to beat on her! What the fuck is your problem?" I yelled in her face despite our height difference.

"I didn't kn—!"

"Are you that stupid? Who else did you fucking think was beating on her! She only stays with her father! That heavy-duty battery built ass nigga!" I yelled.

I hear my car door slam shut from behind me and a matter of seconds past by before Jade is between us both, "Stop! Seriously! This is a misunderstanding!"

"Jade..." Michelle starts off low, "Your father is the one who's been beating you? And you never told me? You lied—"

"—You couldn't have done nothing Mimi. You'd only make it worse. I had no—"

"I would've made it worse? No! I would've protected you! Helped you!"

"You did protect me. You protected me for so long but tonight I needed you and you... just weren't here. You couldn't be here." Jade began to cry, "You couldn't be here! I knew you couldn't! So what's the point in getting you involved?" Jade cries.

I pull her into my arms before redirecting my attention to Mimi.

"Can you leave?"

"No!" She said. "Let me talk to her."

"I'd rather not risk you stressing her out! You've already done enough!"

She stares in silence when we leave. She leaned back against her car for support. You could sense the breaking of her heart from her outer appearance. Her facial expression read hurt all over it. Her body language said it as well. Even the lack of stability she had of her own body.

I think it's too late she should've known better. It was right underneath her nose. No excuses can be made for something like this. Being that damn blind. It infuriates me! Besides Jade is mine.

Jade was staring blankly out the window.

I reached over to rub her thigh for comfort and she flinched just like always.
