Chapter 1- Safe Place, Or Is It?

Taylor's POV

I remember snow. People crying out. Some were wearing coughing masks. Dogs barking, man in black suits wearing gas masks. I also remember a woman carrying me and Thomas as children, threw the crowd, asking them to move. When we got to the front, the woman put us down, but I wouldn't let go of her. She then started to whisper to us.

"Remember... I love youse. Now take care of one another." She said.

Then, I feel someone pulling me away from her and picking me up, along with Thomas.

"Mom!!" We both cried out.

I then remember us sitting in what I think was a train. People with guns were standing all around us. There were also some kids sitting down. Thomas looked around as I was cuddled up to his chest. I was crying, till a woman knelt down in front of us, and said its okay.

I then start remembering waking up in the box, with Thomas, when we first entered the Maze. I then hear someone screaming my name. All of a sudden I hit the top and wake up to Minho shaking me.

"Wake up!! We gotta go!! Come on!!" He yelled, over the sound of the propellers of the helicopter as he pulled me out of the helicopter.

I then remember Thomas gave me Chucks wooden person to hold, and that I dropped it. I ran back to the Helicopter and grabbed it. When I started to run back, I heard screeching. The men who saved us from the maze, screamed Cranks into the direction the screech came from. I then hear shots of gunfire, and then I feel someone pull my arms, when I turned to look, I see Minho and Thomas.

We then started to run toward this building, and ran till we got inside. We just got inside before the doors closed, locking the men out side. When I turned back around, I seen people running everywhere. The place we were in looked like a massive warehouse. I could tell everyone was looking around, shocked or amazed.

All of a sudden we were shown to this room, where a table was set with proper food. We ate, had a food fight, talked for a bit, then just sat down and waited till someone came. After about an hour or so, someone finally did. He said his name was Mr Janson and that he's here to keep us kids alive. He also said that this place is a sanctuary, safe from the horror of the outside world. The main part that made me think is that would we really be safe from the Scorch and from WICKED. It made me think if we could trust him, and I could tell a few of the others thought the same. At the same time he was taking us somewhere.

He took us to this door that needed some kind of key, and he had one. He said this is where our life begins, but first he was going to get us cleaned up. The boys where lead somewhere, while Teresa and I was lead to a bathroom. We both had a nice, cool, relaxing shower and gave our bodies a good scrub. While I was in the shower, I was thinking about what the boys might be doing.

After that, we were taken to a room to get vaccinated, to stop us from getting sick from anything. They also took blood, and a lot of it. The boys even had to do some other things, like running on a treadmill. Teresa and I sat there, waiting for our doctor to arrive, and seen it was a female. When she got to us, she closed the curtains, so no one could see.

Thomas's POV

I watched as the doctor closed the curtains so we couldn't see what she was going to do to the girls. I looked at Minho, who was on the treadmill, with a worried expression. I could also see he was worried. When I looked back, a man then came up and said my name. He then took me to this room. I was left alone in the room till Mr Janson enter. He asked me what I do I remember about WICKED, and said I wasn't in trouble. I told him, how I remembered how I use to work for them, and that they sent me into the maze. I also told him how I watched my friends die right in front of me, and that I'm on their side.
