The prophet (pbuh) said,
"Whoever pleases his parents has pleased god and whoever angers them has angered god."Venue: zubair's home.
I had come home, drenched in sweat from head to toe!! Physically exhausted yet mentally joyful. Because I was coming home after a rough football match. It is held in the ground near our home. Where me, khalid, my best friend several other neighbours and what my mom called 'galli ke bache'( street kids) used to play. The teams would be divided impartially and every player young or elder would be considered equal. Underestimating anyone would be impossible because all of them were as fierce as 'my mom when she saw my grades!'
As soon as I entered I saw my dear mother! She was sitting and reading some book.
And I started singing a line from Adam levine's song," if I got locked away, and lost it all today tell me honestly, would you still love me the same??? If I showed you ma flaws if I couldn't be strong, tell me honestly...."
I was swaying around and hugged my mom. This song was a ringtone of some kid today and so it kept replaying in my head. So I thought ut would go away if I sang it out loud.
But as soon as I was done repeating the chorus twice, my mom burst into tears and hugged me. I just stood there for two minutes gaping at her.
"Ya Allah ammi!! T'Was just a song!"
She sniffed a little and said, " I will always love you no matter what!"
The next thing she told me made me understand why she had acted so dramatic just now.
" Go have a bath and Abba wants to talk to you after maghrib salah."
"Now what happened? ?? I promise I didn't break anything, the vase was broken by zaamil! I am serious."
My mother's 'mera pyaara beta'(my dear son) mood instantly changed into the Momzilla mood," what! the vase is broken???" It was Shabnam who gifted me that!! Ya Allah these children can't stay still without breaking things once a week!"
"Oops! So its not about that???"
"Well...It is something more important. "
"Oh."
"And yah Zuba beta.."
"Ji ammi!"
"You stink!! Go and shower now!
"Okay, ya sure!"
I made my way to my room still wondering what abba would have to say.
......
It was after maghrib. And I was sitting on the couch with Abba sitting in front of me, sipping tea. He cleared his throat twice to get my attention. And the more he delayed, the more nervous I got.
Zubair beta I have something to say
Woah! He called 'beta'. Now something is definitely wrong. He isn't this sweet. I pressed my lip and leaned forward to hear what he was going to say.
"You are my eldest son........." he continued after a brief moment.
"And Mashallah you have always cooperated with us whenever we had an issue in the family.""Hmm..."
"And I hope you will cooperate this time too In shaa Allah."
He exchanged a brief glance with my mother who was sitting next to us.
And said it,"I want you to go study in chennai."
.... ........
There was a long awkward pause which was longer than it was supposed to be.
I did not say anything and just looked at the floor. He then continued.
" The reason you have to go is that, there has been a recession in our company and Alhumdulillah I still have my job but with reduced salary. The college fees is very high here in Dubai so we decided to make you go and study in Chennai. There are very good colleges there and based on your marks and your football medals we can get a redemption for the fee too if Allah wills."I didn't know what to say, my dream college had always been The Gulf Medical University. It had this gym that was every guy's dream to go into, the facilities and even the standard of the college was well known.
My dream was to become a doctor and to treat football players!
I looked up to my dad and noticed that his always cheery face was a bit pale and he even had dark circles probably due to worrying about his job.
I didn't want to make things hard for him and I knew it was Allah's will to put me in such a situation. I just nodded, managed to smile and said, "don't worry Abbu! I will in shaa allah!"
At once my dad smiled showing his dimples. The look of relief in his eyes was worth a site!
He whispered, "Alhumdulillah."
I was disappointed but I was ready to do anything to keep my dad and mom happy because they knew about my dream and I know that no matter what happens they always devide what is good for me..
.........
I went to my room and sat next to zaamil on my blue bean bag. He was sitting on his bran bag and typing away on his phone. He said, "bro I heard."
"Hmm...Yeah."
The next second his widened his eyes dropped his phone, he turned towards me and said," Omg! Finally I get this room for myself, woah!!!! I can use the laptop when I want and I don't even have to share cookies with anyone." He flew his arms in the air in excitenent
Eye roll. I gave him nuetral expression with a slight frown look . The kid next was literally partying and I didn't want to give away that I was sad or I will miss this idiot.
"Okay! Okay! Nothing personal. Oh wait and can I use your......."
"No!"
"But I didn't even say what it is yet."
"Its still a no!"
"But yeah bhai, I might miss you a little bit. Well only a bit."
"Wow! Thanks Zaamil!
I am gonna really miss this kid.
