Kate POV
"We're here." I say weakly as the Concord, New Hampshire, sign goes by outside my window.
"Finally!" Seth says from the backseat.
I give a small laugh and grab my laptop from the floorboard. I instantly start searching for somewhere we can crash. Preferably somewhere with two bedrooms this time. I finally find a small motel that has enough rooms vacant.
27 minutes later, we pull into the parking lot of a nice looking hotel. Preston nods his head with satisfaction at seeing the accommodations. We pull into a parking spot and unload all of our bags and our gear. Seth and Preston have already started walking to the front door, but I lag behind long enough to grab Celeste's bug out bag from the back of the Jeep. For some reason I feel inclined to bring it.
"Hurry up, Half Size!" I hear Seth yell to me from the front door of the motel. I glance up to see that he's holding it, waiting for me. Seems like he has at least one ounce of gentlemen in him.
"Coming!" I yell back, closing the Jeep and locking the doors. A blast of cool air greets me as I enter the lobby. Preston has already gotten the keys and is waiting for us to head upstairs.
"How many rooms this time?"
"Two. Seth and I are sharing." He responds, rolling his eyes.
"And when did I agree to share a room with you?" Seth yells from behind me.
"Well I'm certainly not sleeping the in same room with you again." I say, scrunching my nose up.
"What--" Seth begins. Preston interrupts him.
"Can we please continue this later? I really don't want to listen to you bickering again."
"Funny," Seth says and crosses his arms, "It's you usually you two that are at each other's throats all the time."
Preston rolls his eyes and, without another word, turns and walks away. I glance at Seth, who watches the other boy walk away with an amused glint in his eye. "I think he got something bad in his cheerios."
We head down the short hallway on the bottom floor. Our rooms are at the end of the hallway, near an exit that leads to the patio and a small pool. I take the door on the right and the boys take the door on the left, unlocking the room and going in to drop our stuff off. I walk in to see a small closet on the left of the door and a bathroom to the right. I take a few steps farther and see a small kitchenette area with a microwave, sink, and a fridge. Lastly, there is a full size bed pushed up against the corner of the room. I notice a door opposite the bed and open it. It leads into the guy's room. I peek my head through the doorframe and catch Seth's eye. He shoots me an over-enthusiastic grin and waves his hand at me before flopping on the bed and letting out a dramatic sigh.
I prop the door connecting the two rooms open and throw my bags onto the bed. I walk over to the small desk and chair that sits in one corner and I unload all my equipment. I hook up both my laptops to the wall plugs to charge them and lay out all the gear we brought.
I grab Celeste's bug out bag, and I set it on top of the dresser, a simple reminder of our mission. I walk back over to the table and open my laptops. I'm hoping that now, since we are closer to Celeste, the tracker will be able to give us a more accurate location for her. I pull up the map and look at the flashing dot on the screen. It can get me within about a 25 mile radius, but I never designed this program to go as specific as street names or addresses. Now I'm really wishing I would've thought of that earlier.
