The man looked down at the coffee, almost looking as if he was speechless. He then gingerly took it from my hand, and thanked me, a small blush forming over his cheeks.

I raised an eyebrow at his hesitant tendencies, but I didn't think much of it afterwards. I invited him to come sit with me at a small table in the back of the café.
We sat opposite of each other in a booth, and we settled in. I took a cautious sip of my coffee, always scared it was still going to be too hot to drink.

I then looked at him. He sat, both hands around his cup, and he looked incredibly tense. I tilted my head in question,
"Hey... are you upset about your shirt? I can buy you a new one if you-"

He suddenly cut me off,
"No!" he shouted, and it almost made me jump.

"There is no need, my ray of sunshine. It it's merely a trifle. Not a big deal."

I shifted uncomfortably in my seat. Now that I had heard him
speak more, it really sounded like he was trying too hard.
Did he call me his ray of sunshine?
Slowly but surely he was beginning to creep me out a little bit.

I tried to shake the feeling of discomfort, and I asked him his name. To this, he seemed to brighten up a little bit.

"My name is Matsuno Karamatsu."
He stated, dramatically posing, and placing his hand on his chest as if gesturing to himself.

This newfound brightness made me
giggle, and I told him my name.
He raised an eyebrow behind his black glasses,
"Ah (y/n), how beautiful. It rolls off the tongue like silk."

I blushed a little at the compliment, but I still couldn't shake the thought that he was a little creepy.

I finished the rest of my coffee, and I set the cup down on the table, and stood,
"Well, I should be going. I don't want my host family to be worried about me."

Karamatsu looked confused for a moment,
"Host family?"

I nodded,
"Yeah. Host family. I'm a foreign exchange student. I'm not from here."
I laughed a little,
"You didn't catch that yet? Don't I look a little too North American to be from here?"

Karamatsu stayed quiet for a moment, seemingly looking me over.
"I did not even notice. How could I pay attention to your ethnicity when you are so beautiful?"

I smiled, laughing a bit.
"It was nice to meet you Karamatsu. Again, sorry about the shirt. Maybe we'll see each other around."

And with that, I took my cup to throw it away, and I walked out.
