Chapter 1: About five hundred dollars

"Dork."
"Ugly."
"Smartass."

This my friend, is what I hear every morning when I walk inside Foxwood High School. Today was September 27, my worst day ever. Wanna know why? It's my birthday. Yep, I know what you might be thinking, it's your birthday, why are you dreading your seventeenth birthday, you should be exited! Wrong! This is the day when all the kids like to give me a special birthday present. Last year, they threw me in the dumpster and locked it so I had to stay there all night. With a rat! I smelled like rotten eggs for a week. "Hey Riley!" Keep on walking, keep on walking. "Are you deaf!" I stop. Wait a go Riley, you made her angry. It was Ashely, Austain Bernt's stupid girlfriend. I plaster a fake smile on my face. "Oh heyyyy, Ashely!" I squeal with emotion. Everybody loves Ashely except for me, of course. "Hey Ratty," she started, "I just wanted to say.." Don't say it, don't say it! "Happy Birthday!!" She shouted. I'm dead, I am so dead. Ashely smirks and pushes me against the lockers. "So," she started off holding me with one hand and looking at her manicure. "What did your parents get you?" I glare at her. My parents were rich, my mom works as a docter at the childrens hospital while my dad is an astronaut. As long as she's not killing me, I'll talk to her. I roll my eyes, "You know, the usual." She widened her eyes. The "usual" was about five hundred dollars. "Where is it?!" She squealed, eyeing my bag. I can't believe this. She's actually gonna steal my money! "Look, can't we have a normal, understandable cha-" Before I could finish my sentence, the shedevil drops me. Ouch! I rub my bum. "What the heck did you do that fo-" I look up and mutter, "Oh." Ashely's boyfriend, Austain was walking up to her. "Hey babe." He says. Ashely smiles and responds, "Hey sugarplum!" Austain cringes when he hears what Ashely called him. "Kill me." I mutter again. Ashely shoots me a glare when Austain turns. "So, I wanted to talk to y-"
"What's up little bro!" We turn and find Xavier Bernts grinning at Austain. Xavier winks at a group of girls that walk by. I roll my eyes at him, really? Xavier gives Austain a tight hug. "Um, Xaive, I just saw you five minutes ago." Austain says, akwardly patting his brother's back. Xavier pulls away and crosses his arms. "Well," he pouts, "It felt like five years!" Ashely waves her hands infront of their faces, "Hello! Xavier I'm his girlfriend not you!" She states, irritably. "So?"
"So leave us alone!" Her face was red. "Okey, dokey." He walks away. Austain sighs and takes Ashely's hand. "Okay, so as I was saying..." They walk away leaving me alone in the hallways. Wait, no ones n in th e hallways. Crap. Class started already! I grab my reading book and run away to class. Let's just hope that the teacher forgives me...
