Chapter 6

Alexis' POV

We all went to the beach and jumped into the water transforming. Stacy's black hair turning green and her legs becoming a lighter green tail. Her eyes were actually brown so she didn't need contacts. Lucky. Thomas' brown hair became a pure black and his eyes became a dark grey. His legs became a black tail just like his hair. Peter's hair became red and his eyes were red too. Same with his tail. The red was a blood red color except for his eyes. The red was a soft red that didn't look scary.

We all swam to where we couldn't see the shore. "Hey Alexis. Um. Can you help me?" I turned around. It was Thomas. "Sure what's up?" "Well, there's this girl that I'm trying to ask out and-" "Thomas, I'm flattered really but sorry. I won't be your girlfriend," I said calmly. Thomas just stared at me. "It's not you." I just made an "I'm stupid" face. "Oops! Um sorry. Hehe. Anyways who is it?" "Her name's Michaela. She's in my math class." 'Ok. So she's a geek like you." Thomas just made an annoyed look and rolled his eyes.

"Anyways, tell me about her," I said. "Well she's smart, pretty, kind, shy, and well, everything I want in a girl," he explained. "Ok then. Um all I can say is be yourself! I mean she's practically like you. Kind, smart, shy, so just go for it." I swam away to catch up Brenna. "Oh and one more thing. Make sure to find out if she's one of us."

Brenna's POV

I was waiting at the coral reef with Peter and Stacy. "Where's Alexis and Thomas?! I mean seriously! They should be here by now!" Stacy yelled. "Hold your seahorses girl, we're here!" I heard Alexis shout. "Alrighty! We're all here. Yesterday I hid a chest in the reef. Whoever finds it wins. Go!" I shouted. We all split up and swam around for the chest. I knew where it was last, but I asked my sister to hide it again. I just didn't want to admit my sister hid it.

"I found it!!!" It was Stacy. We all swam to her. It was a blue chest with a gold-like frame. "Wait. This isn't it. The chest's red with a pink frame." I was confused. "Well lets open it!" Stacy yelled. She opened it and inside was a book. "A BOOK?! SERIOUSLY?! I'M GOING HOME!!!" Stacy swam away. She's not really a fan of books.

"What book is it?" Peter asked. I picked it up and read the title. "The Mermaid and Human Story. Omg! It's the story! Ok I'm definitely asking my parents to tell me the story," I confidently said. "You sure? They've rejected you 40 times this year." Thomas can be so annoying. "Whatevs. I'm asking. And if not, I'll read the book!" I swam away. I needed to hear the story.
