Love?

Chapter 5

"Emily! Emily! EMM-ILL-YYY!!!!" I shouted down the hallways of the school. I was looking for her all morning. She got to school before me and I've been in my head the whole night.

"SCARLETT! People can hear you from Jupiter! What do you want!" Emily shouted coming to stand infront of me.

"Listen Emily we have to make an E-mer-gen-cy sleepover session. Tonight after school. Cancel what ever plans you may have had because there is no changing this sleepover day." I tell her emphasizing how important this is. 

"Scarlett. Calm down. Okay I'll make sure I get out the emergency ice cream and we will talk." Emily looked at me and I could tell she was trying really hard to read my expression but she couldn't and because of that her face turned scared almost as if she saw a ghost.

"Jace can't come." I walked off to class.

After school I ran to Emily's house and banged on the door. Emily opened the door and yanked me into the house and we both ran to her room; she had the ice cream mini tubs and some spoons waiting on her dresser, we both grabbed one along with a spoon and then sat down on her bed.

"So what is it that is so important?" Emily said spooning out a big thing of ice cream and eating it.

Opening the ice cream tube I sighed and scooped some ice cream "You ready?" I said then ate the ice cream.

"Of course... wait maybe not... Yeah I'm ready?" She answered.

"Okay, I think I like Jace." I revealed. She almost choked on the ice cream.

"Okay maybe I'm not ready..." She stated "Jace Kyle?" she finished.

"Yes Jace Kyle, our best friend." I said and started eating my ice cream again.

"How? When did this happen?" Emily questioned.

"I don't know? I guess it started when Mason stopped hanging out with me. I was hanging out with Jace and you more. I guess I just started to notice how he laughs or the way he smiles..." I started to daze into thought of him and smiled "and how he is just so... adorable."

"Scarlett! Scarlett! Come back to earth Scarlett." Emily said snapping her fingers infront of my face.

"Oh hi Emily." I said in a mock tone of amazement. "anyway I don't know what to do, do I talk to Jace about this or do I talk to Mason about this or do I just leave it as is and see what happens"

"Scarlett, I think you shouldn't talk to Jace or Mason about this until you know for sure. Hang out with him if you want just don't bring up liking him until you are positive that you do. Okay?" Emily advised.

"Okay I understand. I promise." I answered. 

The following day I decided that I would hang out with Jace to better understand if my feelings get stronger or not.

"Jace!" I said with excitement. Jace came over to Emily's that morning.

"Jace!" Emily said matching excitement with me so that it didn't seem wierd that I was so happy that he came to Emilys  house at six in the morning.

We hugged him and he looked at us confused but let it go and walked in.

"Hey guys." Jace said cautiously.

"Hey Jace, what are you doing here? Not that you aren't welcome. It's just this isn't a regular Jace move." Emily asked.

"Um... I'll um I'll go." He responded.

"Wait Jace" I said grabbing his arm "Jace what is it." I turned him toward us.

"Nothing" He said and walked away.

I was gonna run after him but Emily held me back.

Later that day I went to Jace's house alone. Jace opened the door and I smiled.

"Hey Jace. You okay?" I greeted.

"Yeah, Hey." He answered. No 'Hello Scarlett'. Jace let me in and walked to the couch where I guess he was sitting before I got here. I went and sat next to him.

"Jace." I said. He looked at me and in that moment I hugged him. I don't know why but I really wanted to hug him and break the tension that may have been in the room.

I looked him in the eyes. He smiled at me. I have got to call Mason later. I really think I like Jace. I smiled back at him. This feeling is proving to me that I don't think I like him I know it. I leaned closer to him and met my lips with his. He wrapped his arms around me and kisses me back. After the kiss I look at him smiling. Jace is a great kisser. 

Wait, oh my god I just kissed Jace!

 Oh well... I leaned in to kiss him again. After that kiss I knew I had to say something.

"Jace, you are really good at that." I said smiling.

"Thanks, you too." He answered smiling.

We played some video games and watched some movies until I had to go home. We didn't speak much of that moment we had when I arrived but it was obvious that somethings were going to be different between us from this point on.

The next day I walked over to Mason's house knowing I had to do something about this. I knocked on the door and his mom answered.

"Hey, can I talk to Mason? Oh and how's your sister? Mason said she wasn't feeling so great" I said feeling bad because I was going to break up with him while he was helping his mother.

"No, he's not here he said he was with you." His mom answered.

"No I haven't seen him in a few days. He said he was helping you because your sister was in town."

"Nope, my sister hasn't visited in five years."

"Oh okay well where did he say he was going?"

"Park."

"Thanks" I said and walked towards the park.

Why would he lie to his mom about being with me. He is cheating that's the only explanation is that he is cheating. How did I not see this coming. His lie about his aunt. Wow. I don't even care.

Once I got to the park I looked around and spotted him sitting on a bench next to a blonde girl laughing. I walked over to him almost calmly.

I looked over at the blonde girl and said "Hi my name is Scarlett." In a nice tone sounding almost like a flight attendant.

"Who are you?" She asked rudely.

"This name is Scarlett. Clean your ears. I'm This boy Mason Long's girlfriend, well ex girlfriend -" I turned to Mason "oh by the way I'm breaking up with you." And walked away.

"Scarlett!" He shouted. I didn't pay any attention to it and walked home. When I got home I ran up to my room and went to sleep because frankly I was done with this day it was 7pm and I didn't care I need to let my brain rest and I'd think over how I'm going to talk to Jace in the morning.
