Atmosphere, dark and rainy. No noises around besides people's footsteps, and the cars driving across the wet streets. Occasional speech, but not much. The moon peeks out slowly from behind the orange and blue clouds, softly brushing the night sky. It's a full moon tonight.
As I walked through the rain, my high heels clicked on each concrete panel of the sidewalk. I was dressed in none other than my favorite bell - bottom jeans (sadly they were all ripped), a black tank top that greatly displayed my large breasts, and a white silk vest with a red rose adorning the bottom left corner. The rain was heavying down my hair, which was usually curly. The sun had turned black, and the moon was waiting to play, dragging itself across the night sky. One lonely jet plane grazed the night, its taillights flashing a bright red as it soared, leaving a trail of smoke behind.
"Rain, just what I need," I whispered to myself as I made my way down the sidewalk and into a convenience store to buy a cheap umbrella with the five dollars I had. I had left the rest of my money in my home, thinking I would only need to go out to buy milk. Whatever. Milk, I could get tomorrow. Right now I needed an umbrella, and fast. As I stepped outside of the store, I found a wood bench, which I sat on and opened the umbrella, putting it over my head. I decided to sit on the bench for a few minutes as I stared up at the sky, watching the moon and stars react with each other. Sighing, I closed my eyes and let the rain fall around me. I smiled a little because I enjoyed the sound of rain. The footsteps of people walking by was nice as well. I liked small noises, and the place I lived was good at supplying that.
Out of nowhere, my eyes jutted open and I jumped as I heard a strange noise, something like a human coughing up a lung. At least that's what it sounded like to me. Deciding to investigate, I stood up with my umbrella and began walking foreward, since the noise sounded like it was coming from that way. As I walked, I heard another cough, and I began walking faster, not sure what was going on. Finally, I had to catch my breath, so I stopped in front of a music store and began to breathe heavily, where I heard one last cough. This time it was close by. The alley behind the store was dark, but I poked my head into it and decided to go back there, and when I did, I noticed a dark figure crouching down on its knees. I stood there in the light of the moon and looked at the strange figure, then quietly spoke. I knew it was a human because animals couldn't make such distinct coughing noises. "A-are... are you okay? Do you need help...?"
"No. I... I'm fine," Its voice, well, his voice, was a slurred, heavy British accent, and I swore I recognized it. I had heard it before, I just couldn't remember where.
"Are you sure...? You sound sick," What I didn't know was that he was coughing up smoke from a cigarette he had just lit, which wasn't doing well in the rain.
"I'm okay, miss," He responded. I inched back and he stood up, tossing the cigarette into a shallow puddle of rain water. As I backed up into a wall, he began walking foreward slowly, and once he stepped into the perfect spot, the baby blue moonlight struck his face and I gasped, immediately knowing who he was. His face was as pale as he was on the posters, his eyes a pale green. They shined along with his hair in the soft moonlight. The hairstyle he was sporting was strange, less like the rest of his friends'. While his medium brown bangs parted in the middle and grew long around his jaw line, framing his face, the rest of his hair was straight, growing carelessly, maybe eight inches longer than shoulder length. The shortest part of his hair was the bangs, which sort of covered the outer corners of his eyes. As he grabbed onto my arm, I stared at him, confused. He was wearing a long, black leather trench coat with oversized lapels and a large, gold cross around his neck. With his leather pants and boots, he looked like the rocker he indeed was. I stared down at his hand that was grabbing my bare arm, four black capital letters etched into his knuckles. O - Z - Z - Y.
