Danny Fenton watched as his two best friends, Sam Manson and Tucker Foley, walked home. The two had just told him that they'd rather stay home for the summer than with him on the Fenton family vacation, and, frankly, Danny didn't blame them. They did just alter reality and defeat Freakshow. After a while, he turned into his ghost form, Danny Phantom, and he happily shouted about everything being back to normal. After flying around Amity Park (and getting shot in the bottom with his father's ecto-gun), Danny changed human again and walked into his house.
"If we're not going to that comic convention or Gothapolooza, then where are we going to go on the road trip?" Danny's mother, Maddie, asked.
"How about--," Jazz began.
"LET'S GO SOMEWHERE WITH GHOSTS!" Jack yelled.
"How about West Coast Tech!" Jazz yelled before anyone could interrupt her. Jack and Maddie turned to look at her. "West Coast Tech is an amazing college, and I'm thinking we should stop there on our road trip," Jazz suggested.
Maddie nodded thoughtfully. "Sounds like a great place for visiting! First we'll go there, then Cape Canaveral Space Center like Danny wanted."
"And you guys need to find a place with ghosts!" Jack boomed. "In the meantime, I'll be packing fudge! I mean, clothes!" With that, Danny's father went upstairs, still blabbering on about ghosts and fudge. Maddie followed, leaving Jazz with her brother.
"You excited for the road trip?" Jazz asked with a smile.
"Only if it's not like last time's road trip," Danny said, remembering Youngblood's attempts to make him seem crazy.
"That was the weirdest road trip ever," Jazz agreed. "Well, I'm going to go write my thesis on ghost envy!"
Danny mentally frowned at his sister, who was already halfway up the stairs. "Who writes a paper for college when it's a year and a half away?" he muttered once Jazz was gone. "Well, she does want to visit a college on a summer road trip." Danny, too, got up and went upstairs.
He figured that he'd better pack for the trip. He grabbed some Fenton Phones, then his computer buzzed to life. Danny sat down and clicked on the 'ANSWER' button. Two different faces appeared, one on each side of the split screen.
"Hey Danny!" both Sam and Tucker chimed.
"I thought we could say goodbye before you left on your road trip of family-togetherness doom," Tucker said. Sam rolled her eyes.
"So what are you going to do about the ghosts?" Danny asked.
"We can handle it," Sam said. "Since your family is leaving most of their ghost stuff at your house, that is."
Danny smiled. "Well, before we leave, I'll have to give you guys my key."
"You have a key?" Tucker asked. "What? It's not like you need one."
"You do have a point, Tuck," Danny confessed. "But I have one from before the accident."
"Oh. Right."
"So, where you going?" Sam asked. "I doubt you're going to Gothapolooza."
"A college. Jazz suggested it." Danny rolled his eyes. "And, knowing my parents, they'll sniff out another haunted town and we'll spend forever there."
"Maybe it won't be as crazy as Amity Park," Tucker suggested.
"That's true," Sam added. "It's impossible to find a crazier, more paranormal town than Amity Park."

Dipper Pines flipped through the journal; the second one. The day had been shockingly normal, but it was kind of nice to have a day where he didn't fight a monster or stress about a certain dream demon. Mabel was downstairs, probably making more of her Mabel Juice. Dipper shuddered at the thought of the weird drink. The twelve-year-old stopped turning the pages.
"Bill . . ." Dipper. looked at the page, noticing a summoning spell. "Maybe I should rip this page out . . . Don't want this falling into the wrong hands." But he decided against it, in case of the extremely small possibility of the spell coming in handy.
Mabel came bouncing upstairs, smiling as usual. "Hey, bro-bro, why are ya staying inside? It's such a beautiful day!"
"It's raining outside," Dipper said dryly. "But I guess it kinda is pretty . . ." Dipper shook his head. "I'm just reading through journal two."
Mabel rolled her eyes. "Oh, Dip-Dop, what could be more interesting than making Mabel Juice?" She walked over and peered over Dipper's shoulder. " . . . Bill . . . ?"
Dipper plopped a pen into his mouth and began to chew. "Yeah," he said, his voice somewhat muffled due to the pen, "I was flipping through and happened to stop at this page."
Mabel frowned. "So this is how Gideon summoned Bill?" She pointed to the spell.
"Yup."
"What does it say?" Mabel paused, then opened her mouth like she was going to read it out loud, but her brother stopped her.
"Whoa, Mabel, do you wanna accidentally summon a dream demon?" Dipper snapped the book shut before she could read it.
"Oh." Mabel giggled. "Uh, sorry. Don't want that."
"You got that right," her brother echoed.
Mabel looked outside. "Wow, it got dark quick."
Dipper mimicked her movement. "Yeah."
"Well, I guess I'm going to bed." Mabel grabbed her nightgown and went into bathroom, then came out a moment later with it on. She sat down her skirt and sweater, then climbed into bed. "Goodnight, Dipper."
"Goodnight, Mabel."

Stanford Pines stood in the secret basement under the Shack, looking through old papers. Strange gadgets littered the area around him.
"This is not good," he muttered to himself. Ford looked at a paper covered with numbers. He sighed. "Of all the times to happen, it's going to happen in just a matter days?! Usually, I could handle something like this on my own, but with Cipher on the rise . . . And the rift . . ."
Ford opened up a drawer, and pulled out a snow-globe like object. Inside was what looked like space, writhing and squirming around.
"If this gets any worse . . ." Ford looked up at the picture of his niece and nephew. He shook his head. "No, it won't get that bad." Ford set the rift down beside the many papers strewn across his desk. "I just have to keep the rift away from any portal, natural or not, and everything should be fine. I'll tell Dipper . . . No, I'll tell him, Mabel, and Stan. Everyone needs to know about this."
Ford stood up, leaving the papers back on his desk. Each one held precious information on another dimension. Not the Nightmare Realm; this dimension was definitely much nicer compared to where Bill came from, but dangerous nonetheless.
The Ghost Zone.
