I'm sorry for the spacing. Apparently copy and paste is wattpad's mortal enemy! haha. I tried to fix it as best as I could. Also, my grammar sucks. Anyway, enjoy!

It had been a brisk fall night when it happened. When my life changed forever...
The wind knocked the bare trees lightly against my second floor window. Rasping its reminders of the chilled air wanting to creep in from the other side of the window pane. I sighed heavily flicking through pages of my anatomy textbook. It was late and I was just finishing up my last bit of homework, romancing after the thought of Friday.
Exhausted and unable to focus on the words before me, I shoved the hefty book aside, stretching out on the fuax silk comforter that was draping my bed in a tangled mess from the previous night's sleep. I knew if I curled up now I'd fall asleep without finishing my homework or taking a shower for the next day. That would mean I'd be running around in the morning like a chicken with it's head chopped off. My body defied my thoughts as the smell of my apple cider scented candle filled my mind with warmth and a sweet, sweet feeling. My mind wandered off as I buried my face into the plush blanket, relishing in the comfort. My eyes slowly closed almost willing me to leave the essence of reality and enter the world of dreams.
My body almost won until I heard the grind of metal and the shave of wood that was my window sliding open.
"I got it!" A very peppy petite blonde haired girl stated happily as she managed herself through the second floor window from the conveniently placed tree outside.
I groaned in frustration. Sleep was clearly not in the cards for me tonight. "Got what?"
I crawled from my bed with a silent whimper, as the bed seemed to call for my sleeping form.
"The answer to all your problems." She declared tearing a book out from her tattered side bag.I picked up the book and studied bindings.
The rich purple covers were fashioned closed with silver clasps, hiding the heavily aged parchment with in. A silver pentagram resided in the middle and several colored rune stones were encrusted in the open spaces of the star.
"What IS this?" I asked. "Better yet, what do you plan to DO with it?"
"It's a spell book." She rang out, waving her fingers in attempt to be spooky.
"Oh," I nodded "right." I said as if I completely understood her insanity.
I put the book down and walked over to my dresser pulling the drawers open, shuffling through the clothes, nonchalant at how disorderly they were becoming.
"Whatcha lookin' for?" She asked peeking over my shoulder.
"A stake."
"Why?"
"Because I'm about to hunt me a witch." I said sarcastically as I continued to shuffle through the drawer.
"Stakes are for vampires, dumb dumb." She rolled her eyes as she kicked back on my bed.
"You would know, wouldn't you, Lilian?"
I finally found the clothes I had been looking for. Pajamas! It was a pair of grassy green silk bottoms with black lace around the cuff of the pants and a matching green silk tank top with black lace following the sweetheart neckline. I took hold of them and proceeded towards the bathroom.
"Valerie," Lily whined "Where are you going?"
"To shower." I whined back.
"No, we've got to do the spell. Come on." She demanded
"Those things don't work." I said.
"How would you know?" Lily glared as if she was wondering whether or not I had tried such things without her.I furrowed my brow at her questioning her seriousness in the question she had just asked me and could see no falter in her expression.
"Because if they did you'd find more people in bookstores, than you would street dealing and and bar hopping."I shut the bathroom door blocking her into my room and like a caged puppy she beckoned at the door. I turned the hot water on as I disrobed from my casual clothing when Lily chirped from the other side of the door.
"I didn't get this from a bookstore." She called through the door.
I cracked the door peering out at her.
"Where did you get it?" I asked as I pulled a long gray robe before shutting the water off and opening the bathroom door.
"... Rainven Lane." Was all she said before she took interest in the floor.
"You mean from that crazy old hag that lives on Rainven Lane! The one who used to give us chocolate covered toad feet for Halloween?!"
".... That was such a long time ago? Must we dwell in the past?" Lily smiled uneasily scratching her blonde head.
"Lilian... Listen to me. There is a REASON no one goes near that rambling lady. She is nuts!" I proclaimed.
"Actually, she's a witch. HUGE difference when it comes to the sanity area."
"Right," I mused and closed the door in her face again. "What even possessed you to go near that house?"
"I don't know... I just felt like she could help. When I got there she was sitting on her front porch. She said she had been expecting me. She gave me this book and went back inside..... Come on Val. You used to love this weird stuff...." I could just hear the plea in her voice.
I heard her shuffling her feet. She was playing off this innocently hurt act.
"USED. I'm getting in the shower now." I was used to this.
Whenever she had some crazy idea it always got us into trouble and I wasn't falling for it this time!
"Don't you want to get back at Carson for what he did to you?! What he did wasn't fair.... with this book we can do make him see what he lost!" She said stopping me in mid-move as I was just about to turn on the water for my shower.
"... Two wrongs don't make a right." I said more to myself than Lily.
"Well, maybe it will be so wrong it will make it right." she began desperately egged on "Who knows what may come out of it in the end. Come on. Live a little."
I sighed grabbing my robe yet again... she wasn't gonna leave me be 'til I caved...I wrapped myself up and opened the door in defeat..
"Yes! I knew you'd come around!" She cheered.
"I only came around because I know it won't work." I said simply.
She just grinned at me she plopped on my bed with the book.
"Hokay! It says 'In these pages inscribe what you desire, then let work the magic of spirit, water, earth, wind, and fire....' Oooooh." Lily stressed.
"What?" I asked scooting in closer to see what I was missing out on in the book.
"It rhymes." She grinned.
"Dork," I laughed at her subtle amusement hitting her upside the head with a pillow "What else does it say?"
"Okay, okay, it also says, 'If your heart feels true, a love you will have a new.'"
"What the heck does that mean?" Old rhymes... why must they be confusing.
"I think it means if it's truly what you want than you'll have yourself a new boyfriend" Lily explained confidently as if she had just solved the problem to every single woman's issue.
"Oh...well, why didn't it just say that?" I said as I grabbed a pen.
"The rest of it is blank." She said skimming through the books pages curiously.
"So what do we do?" I asked.
"Well, 'In these pages inscribe'- that means write-"
"I'm not stupid." I glared holding up my pen.
"Yeah, yeah, 'inscribe what you desire then let work the magic of spirit, water, earth, wind, and fire' I guess you just write down what you are looking for in a guy and let the magic do the rest." Lily said proudly of herself for deciphering the spell.
"This should be fun." I grinned evilly taking the book from her and jotting things down.
"Male..18 years of age... Attractive.... attractive... blonde hair, green eyes, attractive, attractive.. How many times are you going to write attractive?" She asked as she read over my shoulder.
"As many as you think it will take to make a guy hotter than Leonardo DiCaprio!" I beamed at my Romeo and Juliet movie poster framed on the wall next to my bed.
"Good luck with that." Lily said hopping up and walking to the window.
"Where are you going?" I asked.
"Home. It's getting late and I don't want to be a witness to whatever you've got cookin' in that easy bake oven mind of yours. So, give me a call when something happens." She said climbing into the tree outside my window.
I looked back down at the book and smiled again.
Even if it wasn't going to work. It was still fun to dream.
"... hmm... tall, rugged," I continued to jot my desires down "talented, romantic, protective, but not overbearing, funny, sarcastic, but not an ass, mysterious, but not shady... man, this is harder than I thought." I said to myself.
