We soon arrived at the side of the dead end street that was Rainven Lane.

The Majority of Rainven Lane was full of tree is old dilapidated house that would look quite homely if their owner's would take care of them. Most were made of siding and materials of that sort. At the dead end of the street there, resided alone, was a old brick looking cottage with a lone standing willow tree in the front. That was the house of the old hag. The crazy cat lady... without the multiple cats.

We stood on the sidewalk in front of the house. Each waiting for the other to take the next step.

“This house always did give me the heebie jeebies.” I said.

As I said so HE pulled closer and gave me a reassuring smile... oddly enough the knots in my stomach loosened and I soon found myself smiling back up at him.

“Awe, now isn't this cute.” Lily teased “I mean... It would be if I knew what was happening.”

“Ha. Ha,” I laughed dryly. “Lil, you go! You've been here before.”

I pushed her forward before she could answer. She glared at me and marched forward up the dirt path to the squeaky wood deck. As her foot landed on the first step the door opened and Lily scurried back to my side.

A stubby figure appeared in the door way slightly hunched over with a rigid wooden cane guiding her way. Her white wiry hair shined like nylon strings of a classical guitar in the moonlight as her white night gown swayed with the light wind.

“I was wondering when you'd three make it here.” She smiled showing some missing teeth.

“Three? Wait,” Lily said as we walked in the house “you can see him too?!”

“Of course.” The old lady said guiding us their her house, which was oddly comforting.

Honestly, you never would've guessed how welcoming it was compared to the outside of the place.

The walls were of a warm red with a light wooded trim and graced with photos that dated back to who knows when. Lights were dimly lit through out the halls revealing the small decorative tables the held up more pictures and lovely looking flowers. As we were led through the house a wonderful smell of peppermint twitched at my nose.

“I feel so left out now.” Lily pouted continuously about not being able to see my invisi-man.

“Come now. Sit, sit.” The lady said as our journey through the house had brought us to a tall living room with a roaring fire in the fire place, one large comfie looking couch, and very comfie looking rocking chair.

The three of us took the couch, while the lady took the rocking chair.

“I-I'm Valerie and this is Li-”

“Yes, yes, I know who you two are. You've only grown up in this neighborhood since you were in diapers.” She teased kindly. “What I want to know is who is this young gentleman next to you?”

“Well, uhm.... see, that's what we are here about... This book... The spell w-”

“Tut tut. I know all about that. What I want to know is who IS he?” She eyed me.
