Austin's pov
I drummed my legs repeatedly in the tiled floor of the hospital waiting room. I couldn't get the image of her out of my head. The blood that surrounded that open wound almost made me pass out. I caught her just before she fell. I called an ambulance and I haven't seen her since they pushed her into the van on a stretcher. I didn't even know who she is but there was something about her that made me want to see her. Maybe it's the fact that she could be dead right now. I looked up to see the doctor coming out of her room. I walked up to him. " is she ok?" I asked nervously. " And you are?" he asked " uh cousin, I'm her cousin" I lied.
He eyed me a little but I pretended not to notice. " Well She lost a lot of blood but she should be fine... but she may now suffer from minor amnesia.
" what?" I said shocked at how he thought this was fine that a young girl might not remember anything. " when she woke up I ran a few verbal and sheet tests on her and she remembers the basics: math, science, how to speak but.. "He paused.
" BUT WHAT!" I said trying not to yell throwing my hands in the air. Man this guy was slow at getting to the point. " as I was saying" he said looking a bit offended. " she remembers most things that should be of any normal human being, their could be a few things here and there but one part in particular i found odd is that she can remember her past, for instance the personal memories." He handed me a sheet of paper and i took a good look:
Name:
Date of birth:
Everything was blank accept one
Last thing remembered : walking towards 16th street.
I was to stunned to say anything, I couldn't take it anymore I pushed passed him into the hospital room ignoring him telling me not to.
I stepped into the plain white room. her eyes were closed, there were tubes on her arms legs and neck. So much for the " she's fine part" I thought.
I stepped close to the bed. I pushed a piece of her hair out of her face. She was actually quite beautiful with her long dark brown hair and hazelnut skin. Her eyes opened. I stepped back realizing I was awkwardly close.
"Thanks for saving me"she croaked.
" no problem" I said sitting down on one of the chairs.
"so you really don't remember anything about what happened?" I said. She shook her head.
"Mr. Carlile?" Said the familiar voice of the annoyed doctor. He motioned for me to follow him into his office right next to the girl's room.
" your cousin is free to leave anytime after this meeting I just need to inform you of further information." He said
" She should visit my good friend who is a psychologist once a week," he handed me a business card with the information on it.
I was surprised he believed me. He went on about what part of the brain got the most damage and blah blah blah. All I wanted to do was go back out there and figure out what's going on and what I was going to do about my new found cousin I didn't even know.
