Tobias POV
I stand in the kitchen making myself a cup if coffee. It's about 8 o'clock in the morning on a Sunday, and we came back from Zeke's house last night around 7. The kids are still sleeping and Tris should be coming home in about a day or two. Just then I hear foot steps coming down the stairs. I walk into the living room with a cup of coffee in hand, and see that its Zoe. She's always the early bird.
"Hey baby girl, how'd you sleep?" I ask her and she gives me a hug.
"It was okay" she says and I give a concerned face.
"Just okay? How come?" I ask and Zoe gives a slight blush.
"I was just thinking..." She says and I smirk knowing where this is going.
"About?" I ask her and she sighs as I chuckle.
"Jack. I don't know, he kissed me on the cheek AND put his arm around me! I just find this a little... Confusing" Zoe says and I nod leading her to the couch, we sit.
"Well Zoe, I'll tell you this... It gets easier. Sure it can get confusing but that's just because he's nervous. Just give it time, he'll come around" I say and she smiles.
"Thanks Dad" Zoe says and I smile and give her a hug.
"Anytime Zoe, now, do you wanna go eat some breakfast?" I ask her and she smiles.
"Of course, it's the best meal of the day!" Zoe says and I laugh.
"Okay c'mon" I say an pick Zoe up, running into the kitchen playfully. I sit her on the counter and she laughs. "Alright... We've got. Cereal.... Yeah, that's all we've got, we gotta go shopping" I say and Zoe laughs more.
"I'll have cereal, then we can go grocery shopping" Zoe says and I nod.
"Sounds like a plan, munchkin" I say and give her a quick kiss on her forehead. I poor some Cheerios into a bowl as well as some milk.
"There you go" I say handing her the bowl of cereal.
"Thank you" Zoe says getting down from the counter and sitting at the table. I finish my cup of coffee and sit at the table with Zoe. Just then the house phone starts ringing. I get up and answer the phone, it's Tris.
"Hey Tris" I say smiling.
"Hey Tobias, how is everything going?" Tris asks.
"It's all good. Just Zoe and I are up, the boys are still sleeping. Were gonna go to the grocery store in a little bit since we have nothing. Also, I've got a story to tell you later. Just not right now" I say whispering the last part.
"Alright" Tris says.
"So how's everything going for you?" I ask her.
"It's going pretty good actually. I think my boss is gonna give me a promotion. I hope, then I can get a higher salary" Tris says and I chuckle.
"No worries, you got this" I say and I can feel her smile through the phone.
"Thanks, I have to go, tell the kids I miss them" Tris says and I smile.
"Of course, love you" I say.
"Love you too, by Tobias" Tris says and we hang up. I go back to sitting with Zoe who now finished her cereal.
"Was that Mom?" She asks.
"Yep, she says she misses you and loves you" I say and Zoe makes a big adorable smile. "C'mon, let's go wake up your brothers so we can go grocery shopping" I say and she nods.
Great.... Grocery shopping... yay.
