Eight... Definitely Not A Doctor

I gave into his command skeptically , only to be hit with a wave of weariness as his tingling fingers brushed my lids gently, causing my eyelids to flutter instantaneously.

Three things followed immediately after his touch; my fleeting heartbeat calmed, my rapid breathing went easy until it was absolutely inaudible, and a strange feeling whipped and wrapped around my body. The sensation felt as if a silky blanket was caressing my body and was being blown and twisted by a cool blast of air.

I gasped as it whirled through my hair and met my ears, astonished and tempted to open my eyes and discover its source, knowing that I was still in my bedroom.

"Keep your eyes closed until I tell you otherwise," Night warned from somewhere nearby, though his voice was distant.

The sensation danced around me for long moments until finally it calmed down to a nice outdoor breeze. The next thing I felt was the familiar texture of grass wedging in between my toes and the sensation like that of the sun warming my skin. My nose was suddenly accumulating the fresh air smell of nature.

But that was impossible ,right? How could I be outside when I am in my bedroom?

Just when I couldn't take it anymore, Night's sterling voice came again from beside me, cleaner now.

  "You can open them now."

My eyelids fluttered open after his words and instantly my eyes grew wide again.

No doubt I wasn't in my bedroom anymore, but was in the field of flowers I'd dreamed a mere week ago. My visuals were seduced by the vibrant colors of the flowers and tall grass that danced in the breeze, wallowing beneath the canvas of the pale blue cloudless sky and the yellow blaze of the sun.

I held out my hand to feel the wind streak between my fingers, thinking this was all an illusion and then amazed at the authenticity. My eyes immediately went up to look into the sun and to my surprise, its powerful rays burned into my retinas and I simultaneously flinched away.

"How...?" I was speechless and confused. I glanced behind me to see that the field was seemingly endless. How was this possible?

" You asked for proof and here we are. " Night said and I turned to see him a few feet in front of me. Not until then was I attentive to what he wore; a clean baby blue button up collar shirt and black dress pants with those shinny black shoes. "The dream in which I came to you in. " He said as he opened his palms to the sky and turned once in a slow circle, stopping to face me with a smug grin on his face.

I was stumped and he noticed, smiling at my stupefaction. He lowered his hands in the silence.

"This is the recreation of that dream and you are in fact asleep. At this very moment, you are laying in your bed, sleeping soundlessly." He said knowingly as he waved his hand gracefully. His smile grew mocking. " Would you like proof of that too? Or are you satisfied?"

I ignored his act of self-glorification and instead asked, mind boggled," How are you doing this? This is unreal."

"You still don't believe?" He looked perplexed while the muscles on his forehead tightened. Then he added with a chuckle," I'm defiantly not a doctor."

Silence followed after his words as my thoughts ran rapid in my mind.

Somewhere I've heard of this before. Possibly from one of my old studies in highschool. There was a demon or creature that visits women in their sleep and there was also one in Germanic folklore that was blamed to be the reason for sleep paralysis, night terrors and nightmares. Still, with the lack of complete knowledge about the two myths, I realized quickly that he had to be the first one.
