"Mel...?" Alex's voice came from the other side and just a breath later, the door creaked open hesitantly and she appeared behind the threshold.

The sight of her should have boiled my blood because of what had happened yesterday, but I was just too freaked out to feel anything other than unstable and baffled out of my mind. If anything, seeing her made me feel somewhat normal again. Sane.

She sighed out in relief when she saw me. Not seeming to notice the deranged glint in my eyes-- or if she did she decided to ignore it-- while she took a few steps closer towards me. Running a hand through her hair as her eyebrows pulled in frustration.

" Okay, why aren't you answering my calls? I was worried --Then I called Debra and she tells me that you had cops over here last night? You know..."

She continued to talk while I mentally lingered on the fact that she'd talked to my mother,Debra. A confirmation that she was still alive; surely that meant that my dad was okay too?

  I could only stare blankly back at her worried expression that also held a hint of unfathomable disappointment. My thoughts went quickly to the man named Night and everything that had occurred. His words echoing eerily in the back of my mind followed by his ghostly chuckle;

Your body, your soul and your mind...

Belongs to me...

"Um, hello? Earth to Melody...?" Alex was standing close enough now that she was waving her hand in my face, bringing me back to reality.

I blinked and then suddenly I was dying to tell her-- anybody -- about what had happened. I had high doubts that Alex would believe me, but maybe all of this would finally dawn on her.

"Alex," I began, hesitantly. Staring into her eyes that were eager to get answers. "You told me that I could talk to you about anything...?"

Her expression went from confused to apprehensive as she slowly lowered herself to sit beside me on the bed.

"Yes. Whatever you're going through, just tell me." Her voice dropped to a whisper as she placed a hand on my leg.

" I'll tell you, but first you have to promise that you'll actually try to hear me out." I pressed and she nodded after my words.

I swallowed; How could I began?

I was absolutely certain that last night had really happened, despite the fact that I couldn't fathom how. If I didn't understand any of it, how could I make her understand? When the situation was really out of the norm and sounded very insane from both sides.

I squeezed my eyes shut and then said the first thing that came to my tongue.

  "Do you believe in Incubi?"

I kept my eyes shut and waited for her response. There was a long pause that followed my voice. Unbearable and lingering. It took all of my will power to face her again and when I did, her expression was unreadable.

The silence was so potent that I could taste it.

Finally she spoke while her eyebrows pulled together in confusion." Incubi?" She obviously was lost.

"Incubus... Sleep demons?"I tried again, but still she was confused.

"Mel, what do sleep demons have to do with anything?"

I held her gaze for the longest before I spoke again. Unsure how to say all of this. "The guy at the club. He's an incubus..."

Before I was even finished with my sentence she was shaking her head down at the bed, vigorously.
