It was a little past midnight when Troy and the others had since left due to them having to work in the mornings. So now it was just me and Alex. We'd progressed to the dance floor and thankfully, she'd found someone to grind on to the beat of the trance. I, on the other hand, preferred to 'dance' alone and I highly stress the word dance. With more than seven shots of tequila contaminating my bloodstream my vision was somewhat clouded and I had the appetite of a horse. A large part of my attention was struggling to keep myself from falling down rather than dancing and the music.
It was in a moment when I swayed a little and a guy nearby caught me when I noticed that I was being watched.
Across from the havoc on the dance floor was an area just off from the restrooms. I could only make out the figure and distinct features of the man whose shadowed eyes pierced their way past everyone and stared directly at me and only me. I had this feeling that it wasn't just coincidental and that he'd been staring at me for quite some time.
It seems I have a lurker.
My attention was vaguely aware that the stranger still held on to me and it had strangely only been a second since I noticed the other man.
"Are you alright miss?" Said the stranger as my eyes wondered away from the lurker.
"I'm...fine." I assured him, though it might have sounded more like incompetence.
"What? "
Someone else grabbed me from the shoulders. Easily his grip was replaced by someone else's. My mind swirled and contorted the images around me as I was pulled back off of him.
" She's fine. Just had a little too much to drink!" Alex hastily told him with a nervous laugh on the edge of her words. Then suddenly her face was in my vision. She looked slightly amused." Mel! Just stand right here and dance okay?"
She positioned me in a spot where it would be less likely for me to bump into people and notably closer to my lurker. My heart did a skip as I realized this, that he was still looking dead at me from across the room. What was his problem? Didn't he know that staring wasn't polite? If he wanted to dance, wouldn't the most reasonable thing to do was just ask?
I looked over my shoulder to see that Alex was dancing right behind me. Swaying her hips in a way that made me envious. I proceeded to mimic the motion with no one to catch it while I peeked over to my lurker. I bit my lips as my adrenaline begin to peak. My heart beat and my breathing fluctuated and I came to the conclusion that I kind of liked that this stranger was glaring at me so attentively. Still it was a bit strange, but the feeling of being in danger only mixed with the sensations of losing control; the sensation that the alcohol was pumping vigorously throughout my body.
I watched him as he watched me. Moving my hips and narrowing my eyes in the way that silently called for him. The movement didn't seem to stir him at all. He continued to glare over at me with an unreadable expression, his arms crossed, and his back pressed against the wall.
While alcohol made me a walking disaster it also made me a huge tease in ways that I could never be when I was sober. I was the happy, party drunk, that ran wild on hormones, and soon; I decided that what I wanted to do was tease him. I was starving for any reaction that he might give. Something I was familiar with.
I lifted my hands, while still shriveling my hips, and began to rub my hands all over my body in a way that my mom would definitely scold me for without hesitation. I lingered on specific parts while I alluringly bit at my lips and closed my eyes, finally feeling the beat. I didn't try to justify myself in this moment because I felt so amazing. When I opened my eyes I was greatly surprised to see that his figure had slightly leaned in forward. In the raving lights, I could see a smirk playing at the end of his lips.
