"What matters is how we're going to find our little brothers!" Clark shouted."Right......well we'd better go research what we're up against," she suggested."Only one result - Caorthannach. She's the Celtic Fire-spitter. Most would know her as the devil's mother."
Dean's P.O.V
"Cas, I know it's confusing and a bit sudden, but we need to work fast if we want to get both your and Clark's brother back safely,"Dean said.Cas was going to hate me now. I had lied to him all this time, and if there was one thing we didn't do, it was keep things from each other. I couldn't live in the past though. I had to face up to what I had done. I started after the others. We had work to do.Kate's P.o.v
I sat on the chair looking at the bomb site around me. Today was one hell of a day. I think everyone was a bit destroyed. I glanced around the room again to check everything was alright. Which of course it wasn't, but as much as it could be. There were two beds in the room, situated opposite each other. On one, Gabriel was splayed out across the top of the sheets. On the other, Clark was curled up in the foetal position under the covers. Dean and Cas had gone to get supplies, seeing as we couldn't go back to our houses.
I recalled today's events in my mind, running through them to see exactly how this had happened.
Flashback
Us running through the halls, killing all the snakes we could find. Finding the room where the demon kept the captives. Finding the three bodies, flesh stripped to the bone. The panic as we thought they were dead. The temporary relief that they weren't there. The horror when we found the real demon taking their life forces. The sound of bodies hitting the floor. Seeing the light leave their eyes, and the fight leaving ours. Dean struggling to stop Cas and Clark getting in to the room, from seeing the damage. The defeated look in both their eyes being what spurred me to shoot the demon square in the face as he smirked. I always did hate that English teacher.
I pulled myself back to the present as I could see Clark moving, waking up. I went over to her and saw she was crying. She had every right to. I soothed her, telling her everything would be alright, when in truth I was trying to convince myself just as much as her. Eventually, she drifted off again, but still I sat there, comforting both of us with meaningless words.
Clark's P.O.V.
The hazel eyes were glassy and faded. I could hear the others screams but I couldn't tear my eyes away, couldn't accept it. I just hugged the body to my chest and rocked back and forth, sobbing silently. Next thing I knew I was in a bed in a hotel room. The bedsheets felt cool and soft against my skin, and I almost fell back asleep but then I remembered. It all came flooding back and I felt like screaming until my lungs gave out. Instead I settled for cradling the sheets to my chest, rocking in silent sobs.
I felt the bed move as someone sat beside me, trying to comfort me. I glanced over, seeing the long hair and knowing it was Kate. I smiled a little, appreciating her efforts. She really was a good friend, even if she didn't know it herself. I couldn't go on with depending on others. I needed to pull myself together. But I couldn't do that without Carson. My baby brother. The only thing left of my life in Ireland and my parents. That was when I decided I was determined to get him back. I'd pull him back from the pits of hell myself if I had to.
Later, I woke again, once again struck still by grief and realisation.
I willed myself not to cry, I felt so weak. I could hear the others whispering in the background. "We can't wake her," Cas said. "Well we've gotta sleep somewhere," Dean said. "We've gotta leave Gabe, he's injured." "Well I don't mind sharing a bed, so I'll just sneak in the other side. She won't notice me." There was Cas again jumping to my defense. "Fine. The couch is a pull-out. I'll share with Kate unless she has an extreme refusal against it," Dean muttered. "It's all good with me," I heard Kate say. I heard footsteps and the lights went out. I scrunched my eyes shut and tensed when I felt the bed sinking under someone's weight on the other side.Cas obviously felt me quivering as I tried to feign sleep. He propped himself up on his elbow and brushed my hair off my face with his other hand. "Shhh, it's alright cutie," he whispered. I smiled into my pillow, then flipped over to face him. "What did you call me?" I asked sleepily. "Nothing.....," Cas replied, avoiding eye contact. "Whatever, I'm going to sleep," I muttered, rolling over. "Not so fast." He tickled me under my chin. I squirmed trying to get away from him. "Cas....Please...Stop...I surrender!" I pleaded between giggles. "Hey, be quiet you two lovebirds, some of us are trying to sleep over here," Dean called across the room. I was grateful for the darkness, as I must admit, I blushed. We settled down again. As I drifted off, he pulled me closer to him, kissed my forehead and whispered "goodnight sweetie" into my ear.
