Dear Reader,
I would like to ask you a question. Do you have glasses, or any opinion on glasses? Maybe you think everybody should wear contacts because glasses are ugly and you pity people without perfect vision. Well, if you are a person with this opinion please read every word I have wrote.

Since I got my glasses at age 9 I have been told by everyone whose seen me their opinion on how I look with and without my glasses on. How different two pieces of glass held that help me see can change my features.

I've also received many questions about how glasses are, if they're uncomfortable or annoying and how different contacts are. I've even been told that I should wear glasses (or contacts) more often as I look "way better" with them. Then sometimes they proceed to ask if I felt ugly without glasses (or, again, contacts) and if I could, would I 'fix' my eyes so I could have normal vision.

Today, in this letter I will tell you all the answers I have to these questions.

First, glasses can be uncomfortable. It depends on what type they are, how well they fit your face, how old that prescription is, and how long you've been wearing them.

Second, obviously glasses can be annoying! Try lying down with glasses on and you'll understand. Plus they get dirty so easily you have to clean them daily to be able to see.

Third, contacts are entirely different. I can see everything and my eyes get dry if I wear them to long. Plus eye infections are a very big part of having contacts. So anybody thinking about contacts, gurl. Make sure you don't swim in them or sleep with them and make sure you have enough solution at all times.

Fourth, I do sometimes feel ugly without glasses. Sometimes I wish I could just cover my face so I don't have to look at it. Other times, I am feeling myself. My eyes are kind of green that morning and I got my makeup on point. I am showing my full face that day. It all depends on my anxiety levels that day.

Fifth, the real reason I wrote this letter to you, beloved reader. Would I 'fix' my vision if I could. Now, I have thought this through and I honestly would never do that. Until I am nearly blind and my glasses lenses are so heavy they leave indents in my nose I will not.

Why? Because I love the feeling of putting in my contacts/glasses and just getting lost in the details of the world, and if I just woke up and saw all that detail I might loose my fascination with this. I might not get lost in the dots on my ceiling or the creases in my hand or the pattern on my desk. If I got used to perfect vision how would I lose myself in details of bark, or the detail of ink on paper? To gain my sight back would be to lose my facination with the details of the world and I can't even fathom that.
