[Alex]

"I didn't think I was going to be doing this today, but f.uck it."

Just before she could comprehend or even just process what Michael was talking about, he just went for it and kissed her.

Yeah, that's right. Kissed her.

Sure, she was shocked, afraid of getting hurt, attempting to keep her walls up, and a bit rusty since she hadn't kissed anyone in, like, a year. But still, she kissed him back.

And no matter how hard she tried to convince herself it wouldn't do her any good, she enjoyed kissing him back.

His lips tasted of root beer with the slightest hint of pizza, it didn't matter how gross it sounded in another person's head, because from what Alex was feeling, she wanted that taste more and more. Nothing else mattered, just her lips on his. The feeling was absolutely intoxicating, as if she never wanted to stop.

It was uncanny how their lips just seemed to fit perfectly together. The kiss wasn't too heated or too chaste; it was just right. Everything just seemed to have gotten better with just the taste of his lips.

But of course, they had to pull away eventually. Once the two (finally) detached from each other, it was clear nothing was ever going to be the same again.

Michael inhaled, obviously out of breath. "Holy shi.t that was amazing. You're amazing."

"I-I, um, you, we, umm,"Alex subconsciously placed her finger tips on her bottom lip, slightly panicked. "I mean, um, did that seriously just happen?"

"It did, and I honestly want to do it again, but the guys are looking at us through the window of the diner," Michael pulled Alex's arm down and placed her hand in his, chuckling.

Alex glanced at their hands, then to Michael. Everything felt so surreal, yet it felt right. There really was nothing wrong happening at all, but of course Alex was panicking on the inside because of how paranoid of a person she was. She was scared, because she had never actually fallen that hard for another person.

She always had her walls up, she never allowed herself to feel. But it was different with Michael, it was as if he had the ability to just break them down within a matter of seconds. Alex was already hurting on the inside, she didn't want to let him hurt her even more, but it was already a bit too late for that.

"Hey, Michael?" Alex looked up to Michael with worry in her eyes. "I'm gonna be completely honest with you; I'm scared."

Michael cleared the hair away from her face, looking back at her. "Well don't be. I know you're thinking that I could be kidding about liking you, that I'm totally going to regret kissing you, or that I'm going to find someone who's better than you, but trust me, none of that is ever going to become true."

"How can you be so sure? So many people have found it so easy to just leave me, hence I am so alone in life right now, if you haven't noticed."

"Alex, I cannot and will not ever find it in myself to stay away from you."

She looked down, biting her lip, flustered with what Michael had just said. It was really a hard thing for her to trust other people, even Michael, but Alex knew she wanted to keep him around, so she swore she'd try, just for him.

"G.oddamn it, Alex," Michael took in a sharp breath. "Don't do that."

"What?"

"That shi.t with your lips. Just don't."

Alex looked down, feeling her cheeks heat up as if they were on fire. She hated the effect Michael had on her, but really, really liked it, too. Get your shi.t together, she thought.
