Chapter Four...beep beep beep beep screeeech ruuurrrump pa-lump-
I snapped out of my daydream and quickly closed the alarm blaring from my phone. Even though the alarm rang now, I had been awake for the past two hours.
Why? You ask.
Well today is the first day of school. Enough said.
My nerves are in jitters. Even though I had been kind of looking forward to this day, millions of what ifs have crossed my mind in this past two hours.
What if no one likes me? What if I make a fool of myself in front of the entire school? What if I fell down from stairs? What if the whole school is filled with bullies? What if I end up fainting? What if I barfed all over my teacher? What if I- Yeah it was getting crazier and crazier each time.
Yesterday night I even googled about how should I start my first day of new school. Most of the websites told me to be calm and collected... which I might admit I am doing a pretty sucky job at.
Anyways back to the present, I got up from the bed , took a shower which helped me relax slightly, and then put on my clothes which I had spent an hour yesterday to choose. I took my bag and went downstairs.
"Good Morning Aunt Lily, Good Morning Uncle Jack" I greeted them as I sat down on the dining table. "Good Morning Emily" they replied in unison. "How're you holding up?" Uncle Jack asked grinning as he neatly folded his newspaper and kept aside.
"I am a little nervous." I replied. "Oh don't worry Em, it will all be alright" said Aunt Lily," here I made your favorite, chocolate chips pancakes." I thanked her and began eating. "Oh and before I forget, we asked Dylan to drive you to school."
I choked on my food. Aunt Lily began thumping my back. "Em, are you alright? Jack bring some water." "Here" Uncle Jack gave me, looking at me worriedly. After drinking some water, I looked at them in horror "YOU DID WHAT?" I nearly shouted, my face beet red.
"We asked Dylan to drive you to school?" my aunt said confused. "Why?" I exclaimed "School isn't that far, I could walk there easily." "Oh don't be stupid Em, it's your first day of school, we don't want you to go alone, and besides you'll already have a friend to talk to." My aunt said. "Yeah, and he could show you around the school, and to your classes." my uncle added. I snorted at that. Ha! As if. I bet he would run away at the first chance he gets, never mind showing me around the school.
"And he just agreed to it?" I asked. "Well of course, why wouldn't he?" my aunt said. Oh I don't know, maybe because I bumped into him and broke his phone and he wouldn't stop glaring at me the whole time I was at his house.
But I didn't get a chance to say anything, because suddenly the door bell rang. "That must be Dylan, I'll go get the door" Uncle Jack said getting up from his chair. "Come on Emily, finish that breakfast or you'll be late on your first day!" Aunt Lily exclaimed.
School hasn't even started, and my day has already turned worse. "Lily, how are you?" Dylan came in and hugged my aunt. I can't help but wonder why Dylan was so friendly with my aunt and uncle. Sure they are nice people, but Dylan likes them a little too much. "Oh I am absolutely fine" my aunt waved off "and now even better, since you agreed to drive Emily to and from school."
Dylan's smile vanished at the mention of my name, and he discreetly turned to glare at me as if it was all my fault. "It's no problem Lily, anything for you." His smile returned again, but this time it seemed a little more forced.
"Now now," Uncle Jack returned "stop fussing over the boy Lily, it's time for them to go, I wouldn't want my niece to be late on her first day." He grinned at me. I managed a small smile. All the breakfast I ate threatening to make an appearance because I was so nervous. I hugged my uncle and aunt, and picked up my backpack ready to go. "Have a good first day!" both of them wished.
