The night was clear, and beamed down a soft glowing light onto my terrible yellow car, with a grumpy Tom in the back moaning, "Are we there yet?"
"Nearly. Can't you go to sleep or something? Leave me alone."
"Whatever, bro."
I parked the car about a mile away from the mansion, as I needed to clear my head before we met everyone again. I took the time to remember what everyone was like, as me and Tom walked to Mungo Manor.
Charlotte Pugh- quiet but could outmatch you with insults any day. Don't fuck with Charlotte. She works as a primary school teacher.
Briony Tilsley- exquisite, creative and clever. She also knows ninjutsu. She works as an author/poet.
Tom Swan-loud, but a good bloke. Funniest dude around. Could drop you in a fight. Works as a businessman/rapper on the side.
Dylan Lees-about as fast as Sonic The Hedgehog, but has a brain equivalent to a rock. Currently unemployed.
Alex Haycock-pure of heart, good as gold, and a complete legend. Works as a policeman.
Lucy Bance- loves reading, and specifically Harry Potter. Works as a librarian.
Having brought myself up to speed, I looked ahead and saw the ancient house named Mungo Manor.
The house was huge. A front garden filled with flowers, bushes, fountains and benches. A large door lay open at the centre of the manor, and the house stretched out from both sides. Vines climbed the red brick walls of the mansion, hinting at the ancient secrets within. Just looking at the house I felt curious to see what was inside.
Tom strolled inside, humming shitty songs and dancing. I wasn't far behind.
The entryway had red walls, with a roaring electric fire against the wall facing away from me. Charlotte, Briony and Lucy stood together, while Alex, Dylan and Tom were stood closer to the door. Alex was first to greet me. He had long brown mullet, rough and tangled.
"Tim! How are you doing?"
"About as good as I look."
"I'm guessing terrible, then. It's supposed to be a joke."
"Ha-ha. Absolutely hilarious. Still, good to see you Alex."
"You too."
Dylan piped up after ten awkward seconds of silence. He had short ginger hair, and golden aviators. Sadly, his outfit didn't match, with a ragged hoodie and sweatpants matching his luxury glasses.
"Alright mate."
"Alright. Where have you been?"
"About, ya know. Places. Stuff. Yeah."
"Thanks for the specifics."
"No probs, famalam."
"You're so cringey, like seriously."
Now that I'd met the guys, it was time to kick back and relax. Or go and talk to the girls, Charlotte, Briony and Lucy. I decided to talk to Charlotte. She had shoulder length blonde hair.
"Hey Charlotte."
"Hi Tim."
"How's life?"
"Actually, it's going really well. I just got promoted and stuff, but that's a story for another day. How's yours?"
"Terrible. I'm a store clerk. But otherwise, yeah, it's going good."
Next, was Briony. She had curly hair and was wearing a green jacket and black trousers.
"Howdy, Bri."
"Don't call me Bri."
"Hey there, Brion."
"Don't call me Brion."
"Okay, Briony."
"Thank you! Hey Timothy!"
"Don't call me Timothy."
Finally, Lucy.
"Tim, have you read any books recently?"
"Nope, and especially not Harry Potter."
"I'm gonna kill you."
"Okay."
Now everyone was here, we all sat down in front of the fire on stupid fold up chairs that Alex had brought.
Briony started with, "Can we play a game?"
I instantly replied with, "If you can think of one."
Charlotte said, "How about truth or dare?"
Tom said, "Noooooo, let's just chill!"
Dylan shouted, "Going for a piss!"
Me and Tom said "Me too! I mean, what?"
This was chaos.
As the three of us went to look for the bathroom, I faintly heard a clicking noise.
A rumbling noise escalated into an explosion, and then everything turned black.
The night had begun.
