I didn't understand what was happening, I just stood there, confused, staring at both of them.

They had looks on their face I couldn't even read. I could guess it was pain and slight regret, but who knew?

After a few seconds of me just standing there next to them and them awkwardly staring at each other, I decided to speak up, like this wasn't the weirdest situation ever.

"Uhm, so I guess you two know each other? Wanna tell me where you met, in the car?", I asked, looking at both of them.

Niall seemed to be in a trance and Perrie had a blank expression covering her face. She simply nodded and got into the backseat of the car.

"Yeah sure, sorry.", Niall replied, his voice holding the type of emotions that you would call regret and sadness.

He went around the car and opened the door to his seat, while I did the same.

Once we all put our belts on, he started the car and drove silently, no one even speaking a word.

What the fuck was happening? What was I missing? Why was everyone acting this way?

I sighed, bringing my hands to my forehead and leaning my head in.

"Niall? Perrie? Care to tell me something or am I just gonna sit here like an idiot, not understanding shit?", I finally said, getting slightly pissed off and also very impatient.

Niall looked into the mirror, staring directly at her, while they probably debated who the fuck would explain things to me.

I looked back to Perrie, who was obviously avoiding his gaze. Niall kept his gaze on her for a few more seconds but then just stared out of the window, his eyes fixing the road in front of them.

„We're old acquaintances, let's leave it at that.", Niall finally said, sounding more distanced than I ever felt him be. It sounded like he completely shut himself down.

I heard Perrie draw in a sharp breath and as I looked into the mirror she closed her eyes and leaned back in the seat.

Deciding that I would find out what happened either way, I just let it be for now.

They wouldn't get away with it, but I knew that it would be in vain to just keep pressuring them right now. They definitely did not want to talk about it.

I didn't answer Niall, because I didn't even know what to answer. Of course, I didn't believe a word of what he had said, but if I would've told him that, I had a feeling that he would've snapped at me. And for some odd reason I didn't want that to happen.

He was extremely uncomfortable and seemed to be annoyed and sad. Something I hadn't seen on him yet.

Perrie was quiet, the hurt, that haunted her face before completely erased, and replaced with indifference.

My eyes were glued on the landscape that was changing outside with every second that passed.

After a few horrendous minutes, Niall stopped the car in front of our house and got out, not saying a single word, locking the car after me and Perrie got out of it.

He entered the house, slamming the door shut after him.

I looked at Perrie, her eyes on the door which Niall had just slammed shut.

A sigh left my mouth, my hand finding my face, rubbing on it once, because this situation was stressing me out.

"Perrie..", I grabbed her hand and slowly turned her around, so she was facing me.
