Chapter 13

---3rd person---

"Don't let the pirates escape! Shoot down as many as you possibly can!" 

"Your opponent is me and only me!" yelled Whitebeard as he smashed his bisento with a quake at the marines, sending them flying and causing dust and smoke to rise.

Aki still remained frozen where she was, she couldn't move, all she could do was sit there watching Whitebeard fight for their lives.

I have to move. She thought. I have to.. I can't let him die for nothing. I hav-

But Aki's thoughts were cut off at the sharp pain in her stomach. 

"Ah!" she cried as she clutched her stomach. Shit! Not now! She thought. No! I can't-

But the pain only doubled, causing her to fall, her back hitting the stone hard ground as she held in her cries of pain.

"Straw-Hat-Boy! What are vyou standing around for!?" cried Ivankov as he saw Luffy standing, waiting for Ace.

"Ace, let's go!" called Luffy. "The oldtimer made his choice!"

Ace continued to look down at the ground, his eyes hidden by the shadows, his expression unreadable, until he lifted his head.

"I know." he said. "I won't waste his efforts."

Ace lit his fist a fire, 

"Get out of the way, all of you!" he yelled as he sent a huge wave of fire at the marines attacking Whitebeard, sending them flying and leaving Ace and Whitebeard in a circle of fire, blocking out everyone else.

Whitebeard turned his head back slightly to see Ace on his knees, bowing down to Whitebeard.

"There's no need for words.." started Whitebeard. "Just answer one question for me, Ace..."

Ace lifted his head, meeting the Whitebeard piercing gaze.

"Was I a good father?"

Ace held his gaze before squinting his eyes shut, holding back his tears as he lowered his head to the ground once more.

"Of course you were!" he cried as tears still left his eyes, dripping down onto his hands.

"Run! Run to the ship!" yelled A.O, who was allied with the Whitebeard pirates.

"Ace-san! Luffy-kun! Run forward!" yelled Jinbei only a meter behind them.

"Jinbei!" they both exclaimed in unison.

"They're aiming at you-"

"Argh Fuck!" said a voice interrupting Jinbei causing Ace to snap his head around only to see Aki, lying on her back about 50meters ahead of him.

"Aki.." he whispered as he stared at her, she was so close but she was crying out in pain, why? "Aki!" yelled Ace.

She knew that voice, she knew that voice anywhere. She opened her eyes only seeing a flash before she was swept off the ground and wrapped in warm arms.

She stared up at him, his black hair blew in the wind as he kept running, his freckles still adorable on his face, his black eyes boring into hers as tears reached the brink of them.

"Ace.." she whispered as she wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling herself into his chest. 

She felt the warmth of his arms once more as his grip tightened around her pulling her in.

"Aki." he breathed holding her close as he continued running with her in his arms. 

"You're such an idiot." she whispered, her head buried into his chest so no one could see the tears of joy streaming down her face. "Just running off and making me worry like that."
