Your POV

It was a normal day, to start out. I pushed getting out of bed to the very limit so I could stay warm for as long as possible but still not be late to work, like any other Tuesday morning.

My alarm slowly faded in, playing A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More 'Touch Me' and vibrating against my black pillow case. I groggily sat up, stretching and blindly walking to the restroom, the smell of medium roast coffee wafting downstairs from the kitchen. I walk into the bathroom and instantly turn on the light. I look in the mirror to see something written on my forehead in marker:

Bird Cage

This didn't make any sense. It was clearly my mother's handwriting, her elegant scrawl dark against my pale white skin. I wet down a cloth and began rubbing the marker off my face, and it came off easier that I expected and only left a light outline.

I walk back into my bedroom, walking cautiously over to my parakeets' cage and slowly opening the door. I looked around the cage for any sign of what the message had meant, and found nothing. I looked around the cage for something, but all I observed was the box of bird seed was missing. Then, I had one of those A-ha! moments and opened the top to the breeding box I had placed in the cage about a week ago that hadn't been touched by either bird. A bright pink post-it note stuck to the bottom read:

Yard

What was this, a scavenger hunt? I thought to myself.

I went upstairs just in time to see my mother disappear into the bathroom. Odd. I slipped on my maroon Vans and went into the yard, to find, written in yellow bird seed, a phone number: 715-566-8648

I was so confused. What? This had better be worth it, I'm probably going to be late for work (I work at the Hot Topic at the mall if you were wondering). I pull out my cell phone and dial the number.

"Hello?"A man on the other end says.

"Hi, um, I am supposed to call this number, I think? I dunno, I'm really confused," I mumble on, lost for words.

"Oh! Is this Y/N?"

"Um, yes. Who is this?"

"Oh, this is your local radio station. We are giving away a chance for someone to tour with Fall Out Boy for a month, and, you won!"
