Your POV

"Are you kidding?!" I yelled into my phone, definitely louder than I should have.

"No, ma'am, I am afraid not," The man on the other end replied, clearly a bit startled by my outburst.

"Oh, thank you so much!" I say, glancing over my shoulder to see my mother standing in the living room in front of the window, looking out at me with a giant grin on her face.

I hang up and run into the house, colliding with my mother at full speed and enveloping her in a hug that lasted longer than any other, and I tried to keep tears from falling onto her dark grey North Face jacket.

"Oh, honey, you're welcome!" She said, her voice still notably tired-sounding.

"I take it that was the radio station?" She asked, though she was pretty sure what had made me nearly jump through the roof.

"Yes!" I yelled into her ear making her flinch a little. I felt a small tear wiggle it's way out of my eye and fall into her hair (or mine, it was hard to tell).

So many thoughts were going through my head in those moments, my brain was just spinning at a thousand miles an hour. It was impossible for me to think straight.

I finally broke the hug after a couple of minutes of quiet, stifled crying and hugging.

"Well, you'd better get packing!" my mother said as she pulled away.

"But, I have work, I can't be late," I say, sad that I can't throw some clothes into a bag and leave in an hour.

"Don't worry about it, I called you in and said you were sick. I also told them about the tour and how long you'd be gone," She said.

"Oh. Mom, thank you so much!" I pull her into another embrace, this one not so long.

When I break away, I sprint downstairs to my bedroom and nearly fall down the stairs in my haste. I throw the door open and toss my suitcase onto the ground in front of my bed and begin shoving clothes into a suitcase.
