Last time on The Big Mistake

Jace grinned.

"Will you go on a date with me?"

------

I felt like screaming.

Jace.

Just.

Asked.

Me.

Out.

Holy Crap.

I stood staring at him with my mouth open.

He smiled at me, totally confused.

I literally could not close my mouth. It was like it had been wedged open.

Before I could do anything, Jace lent forward and gently placed two fingers under my chin and lifted it so it closed.

"It's ok. If you don't want to that is." He said, "I only met you a week ago."

I shook my head, trying to clear it of the cheering rattling around in my brain.

"No. I would love to go out with you." I beamed.

His grin broke into a full blown smile. I totally beautiful and perfect smile.

It was so perfect I felt like I was basking in it's glory. No one should be allowed to have a smile that beautiful.

"Well Friday then?" He asked.

"Yeah. Sure." I replied.

"I'll see you at 7." He said.

Then out of no where he lent forward and planted the lightest kiss on my lips. So light it was barely there. I only registered what had happened when Jace was 5 meters down the pathway back to Terrace.

*3:10 PM - Friday*

"You excited?" Phoebe said nudging me.

The truth was, I was totally head over heals excited. I felt like a 3 year old who was just about to be handed an ice - cream.

"No." I muttered looking out the scratched bus window.

"Cam?" She asked frowning.

"She hit me Pheebs! What kind of best friend does that?" I asked her desperately.

"She was out of control, I know. But she only cares about you. She doesn't want you to get hurt."

"By Jace? But she's allowed to hit me?" I asked.

Phoebe sighed. "She's scared Mi."

"He's a 16 year old boy. Not a criminal." I muttered.

"Too often those are the same thing." She replied pointedly.
