The series finale of Sirens is in a week.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO . . .
As I sit on the worn-down couch, all I can think about is that series finale. It's only been a few short seasons . . .
My thoughts are interrupted by my ears ringing. Oh, that's not my ears, it's the phone!!!
"Hello?" I ask.
"Helllloooo?" I ask after a small moment of silence.
"HELLO!!!" I shout, irritated.
"Oh, sorry, my darling," Jackson's sweet voice says apologetically.
"No, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have shouted. Sorry about that. . . Not to be rude, but why'd you call?" I respond, guilt filling up inside me.
"I wanted to check on you, make sure you're okay. Yuh know, just making sure you haven't gone insane yet," he teases.
"I think I'm somewhat sane, still, thank you. How are you holding up?" I wonder aloud.
"Oh, yuh know. Same old, same old. Helping mom, visiting dad in jail. Now it's once every 3 months. Guess he's not getting any more sane than he was 5 years ago after the mass shooting," he responds casually, a bit of concern creeping into his voice. His dad had been a part of this crazy shooting at my school 5 years ago. Luckily, we had school off because it was one of those NEOEA days.
He has a life sentence, because he has a history of murdering some guy who threatened his mom. So sad . . . :(
A quick few days come and go, so today is Thursday. Only 2 more days until the finale of Sirens . . .
Those 2 days I've been dreading finally come.
"Why, why did it have to be Nelaya? She didn't deserve this!" Maki, the main character cries for her now lost friend.
I blow my nose and dry my tears as I stare at the screen, listening to the very last lines:
"We are forced to live this way. In life and love, there is only one path to take. Take peace as the war it is. Silence is the loudest scream of terror. Avoid this . . ." Maki warns, zooming out dramatically as she walks into the shadows unknown.
Now, I must find another way to escape my reality . . .
