Based off of the TV show, where Alec is engaged to Lydia.

"Marriage." The word rolled politely enough off Alec's tongue.

Magnus started a little, looking at the dark hair Shadowhunter incredulously. "At least buy me dinner first," He retorted sharply, but inside he couldn't repress the innate dance of butterflies that had erupted in his stomach. "I mean I know you're a traditional guy, given your rather," Magnus waved his hand in thought, "Uptight family. But I suppose we can skip the usually lengthy courting proces-"

"To Lydia." Alec interrupted loudly. His face reddened a little, before quietly clarifying. "I'm engaged to Lydia."

Magnus's jaw dropped a little, he took a step back as if he had been slapped. For the first time in near a century, Magnus Bane actually didn't know what to say. "What?" He managed to speak aloud.

"My parents have managed to practically destroy the Lightwood reputation, so this is a smart match to regain some honor." Alec replied, but he kept his eyes cast on the ground, his voice completely lacking any real conviction.

"A smart match?" Magnus spat, his eyes narrowing as the happy butterflies in his stomach were annihilated by the weed wacker of rejection. "A smart match, Alexander?"

Alec opened his mouth to protest but Magnus had had enough of this ridiculous Shadowhunter (who had managed to capture his very-divided attention but then decided to propose to a random ass girl instead of this prime warlock real estate).

"Well if you would like to condemn yourself to a miserable life full of disappointment and lying to yourself, then be my guest." Magnus snapped lividly. "But next time, how about you don't lead a guy on and then dump him like some cheap, hired bimbo."

Magnus then stormed away, a mixture of anger, hurt, and honest-to-God raw disappointment from the rejection he had been blindsided with.

And Alec was left standing in the dimly lit corridor, guilt and remorse weighing heavily on his mind. And for the first time since he had devised this plan, he felt the threads of doubt weave themselves into his mind as he allowed himself to imagine for a moment what his future with Magnus Bane could have looked like.

I'm so angry with the TV show right now, like please just give me Malec and stop messing around. I also could totally use some cool writing prompts, so hit up those comments.
