"So remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see and wonder about what makes a universe exist.

Be curious.

And however difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at. It matters that you just don't give up."

~ Stephen Hawkins
-------------------------------------------------

My focus was on Charles, his body was unmoving but not lifeless, using my werewolf senses I strained my ears to detect his heartbeat and was eventually awarded with one.

Then, I turn my attention to Esme and look at her in shock, she was a witch? Why had she cast a generational curse on her husband? The father of her children?

Obviously, sensing my intense gaze on her, for the first time, she actually took notice of my existence, her eyes widen and before she opens her mouth to speak, a bright light flashes, the light fills the room, making it hard for me to see.

I hiss at the stinging pain that starts from my eyes and begins to fill my body.

After a while, my eyes flutter open, and my eyes widen at the change in my surroundings.

I gasp in shock and look around, what the  hell?

This time, I wasn't in a village. I was in the middle of the woods and currently
standing in front of an abandoned building- a church,  I recognise the exterior.

It was an old church with a few gravestones and a tilted wooden cross that looked like a crucifix.

I walked towards the building and looked for a door. Finally, when I did find one it was  slightly ajar, almost as if it was begging me to push it fully open and walk through.

Go on, push the door My subconscious advised.

But, sensing my hesitation, somehow as if I was possessed my legs moved on their own account- without my permission.

My eyes widen and I start to panic.

"No-" I begin but was immediately cut off by a male voice.

"Ah, there she is" My father says, his eyes showing his relief.

"Dad? Mom? What's going on?" I ask, confused. They share a look between them.

"Follow us" My mother orders, softly.

Despite my mom's soft and gentle voice, my hands curl into fists so tightly that I start to feel my nail digging into my palms, my mouth feels dry and I scream in frustration.

"No! For Pete's sake, can
Either of you please just tell me what's happening?"

My parents look unfazed at my frustration.

"Well?" I ask, looking between the two, my hands resting on my hips.

My mother sighs " We thought instead of telling you about the beast- why you are the beast and how it all began, we thought we'd show you instead"

"Okay, I guess that makes sense. I just don't understand why what Charles did was wrong, I mean, he was angry that his wife was cheating on him- who wouldn't be?" I questioned.

"True, but just because his wife cheated on him doesn't give him the reason to kill Jeremy- or anyone for that matter"

I nodded, showing my agreement.

"So, what happened after?" I asked,

"She had cast a generational curse on him."

"Yes, but they already had children, so how did the curse-you know- run in the family?" I asked, confused.

"Follow us, we'll show you." My mother commands, leading the way through the old church.

My dad and I follow her as she leads the way, she walks towards the altar.

"This" she rests her hands on the altar " is where the sacrifice took place"

"The sacrifice?" I ask, puzzled.

"What sacrifice? What is going on!" I waved my hands in the air, frustrated.

"This is where Charles was killed"

"What? He was killed? But-but why?" I ask, Shocked.

"Well, that's what we want you to find out." My dad responds.

I look at him "huh?" I'm pretty sure that confusion was evident on my face.

"We told you- we want you to learn, we want you to see everything first hand." My mother explains.

"Do I have to?" I complain, a frown forming on my face.

"Yes, you do" my dad rolls his eyes at me.

"Fine, but what happened to Esme? What happened to their children?"

My parents smile at me "looks like you're about to find out" my mother replies.

I roll my eyes, I am beginning to get annoyed by this now.

"Fine, when will I find out?" I ask, letting my frustration seep through my words.

My dad raises his left hand and looks at the watch that rests on his arm. "It's currently 3:58 so in about two minutes"

I try to fight  the smile that itches to appear on my face. When my father died, I kept his watch on my table and would wear it everyday until it had suddenly vanished and I never saw it again.

"Okay, it's 3:59 now. Any minute now you'll be somewhere else."

I started counting the seconds,  my heartbeat syncronising with my counting.
Then it went faster and faster until i shut my eyes tight as anxiety and anticipation begins a storm in my body.

When I opened my eyes, my parents were no longer there and the altar looked different.

It seemed different.
It felt...Pure.
Like no blood had ever been spilled on its ceramic tiles.

Then I saw them.

I was them march in.

The witches were dragging Charles into the church. I ran towards then but they passed right through me. I gasp in shock, it was like i was revisiting history.

My parents' voice fill my head, We thought instead of telling you about the beast- why you are the beast and how it all began, we thought we'd show you instead.

That's what we want you to find out.

We told you- we want you to learn, we want you to see everything first hand.

Then realization hit me like a wrecking ball. I was revisiting history.
