Sober winked at Jordan; she gave him the middle finger, with her deep red fingernail. I slapped Ty-rid upside his pretty head. As usual if I’d slap him up side his head, he’d make groaning noises. Then Jordan and I turn back around and we popped our gum.
“That boy is mad about you chica--crazy. Loca!” Jordan exclaimed, making the crazy sign. “I know… but he’s sooo dreamy!” Then Jordan and I look at each other in the eyes and both said: “Not!” Then we died laughing, even though I was lying to her and myself. “I heard that!” said Ty-rid behind and then started making kissing noises. Jordan again turns around in her seat. “Hey—whatcha you doing son?” “Practicing my kissing for the auditions for ‘Romeo and Juliet’. Flower is going be my rose and my Juliet.” Jordan looks behind me then smiles then frowns.
“So, you’re auditioning and didn’t even tell your girl?” I started to bite on my thumb nail. “Well, I never had the chance to so yeah—here we are!” “I am already Romeo so all Flow has to do is do well or I’ll quit.” I rolled my eyes and let out a long sigh. Sober then jumped up quickly then smelled his arm-pit. “Whelp, another day for this ol’ yeller of not washing,” said Sober trying to change the subject. I covered my nose and sprayed cinnamon Frebreeze all over. Jordan then sat back down and slumped in her seat and covered her nose, too.
“Dag, that boy needs to not just get his head into books, but into some bathtub. He smells like the boys’ locker room!” “I know right, I swear I thought I saw some flies dying around him.” We then sniggered. Sober sat down and started to whisper some things to Ty-rid.
“’Ewe’ at 3:00,” I warned Jordan, while I elbowed her. Then she made a stank face. “Uhgg!” Jordan then turned back around in her seat. “It’s Chrisette Lexton! That freaking trifling’ who’s always asking for money and has the worst stank breath in stank breath history and she smells like ran over skunk and with the moles on her eyebrows and …and…” Ty-rid budded in. “Ok we get it. She ugly, but I have to admit, she has a sexy name—and she can sing. I mean sang!” After hearing that she had a ‘sexy’ name, I felt like I was stabbed in the back, and the pain oozed to my heart. Then my mind was filled with jealousy. Until I remembered that Chrisette was a filthy girl. Jordan turned back around and slumped in her seat and covered her nose with her hood on. Chrisette just stood there in the aisle Ty-rid and I were in.
“Sssssso any of you people have a dolllllarrrr for me sooo I cannn have lunnchhhhh….” After she said the ‘ch’ she spit in my face. “Say it, don’t spray it,” I whispered looking away. “Welll annnnyboodddy? ” Ty-rid’s and I caught each other’s eyes then shook our heads no. “I’m broke for the next 2 months actually.” Chrisette then looked at Jordan. Jordan sat up a little. “Ummmm. Gee me neither. I’m broke.” She went into her pockets and pulled out lint and a button. Chrisette gave Jordan a squinting look and licked her cracked and bled lips and crossed her arms in front of chest.
“Well, mmmmiissssy. I knnnnowww thatttts a doooubt ‘cause you be shaking it and showing all that boootatayyy to not have anny dollllarsss!” Jordan’s mouth opened and she cocked her head to the left then the right.
“Actually, you know what I have?” “WHHHAT?” “Stick out your hand and close your eyes. Chrisette did as she was told. Jordan stood up and took her hand then---wamm—right on the forehead her hand slapped. “Now take that, you trifling dirt--”Before she could even finish what to say, Chrisette ran off the bus crying her eyes out and tripping over small tiny rocks on her way. “Well, she will get over it. Shoot she’d be here tomorrow like trying to act all cool like, ‘Aiyooooo! Where mehhhh moneyyyyy attt sonnnnn,” Jordan said in a heavy voice with her shoulders up. We all laughed and finally came to my stop. I started to get up. “Well, I guess this is my stop. So yeah-- Deuces.” Ty-rid then stood up and walked with me down the aisle. “Let me take you home.” I stopped then stared into his glimmering eyes. “Why?” “Because. I just want you to get home safe. I don’t want you to end up like your dead little bro.”
“Whatever. Let’s just get outta here. My toes are too cramped in this little flat that Ma gave me.” “Okay.” I gave a little smirk and started to lightly hold Ty-rid’s hand on the way home. I loved the moment so much that almost tripped over small cracks, but Ty-rid was there to my rescue. I just wished Ty-rid and I would have more quality time together.
